High octane Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 The headers in the JoHan "Recharged" kit are for a Wedge engine and not the hemi. They can be bought from MCW. 62rebel Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 i often wondered why the Recharged Polara headers wouldn't fit properly.... now i'm wondering why they included a hemi in a kit representing a car that ran a wedge..... that's why i have two sets of them; they wouldn't fit the engine..... the AMT '37 Chevy also has some that are almost fenderwell style, also for BBC. the Malco gasser Vette set is nice. i'm of the mind, though, that bending up some solder is the easiest way to get a set that will fit your application without modification..... i haven't tried that, though, i don't build in that style often. I'm trying to find some from a kit, but those scratchbuilt ones up there look mighty fine....might have to go that route. And Robert, yes, I've seen that '55......I think it was a 4 door and somebody took a section out of it to make it a two door. The kids think it looks like a Shriner car. I did a set a number of years back for a 65 Plymouth AWB and they came out pretty good. I even had to wrap them around the framerails and the torsion bars like some were done back in the day. The collectors are 1/8" OD aluminum tubing butted up to the ends of the primary tubes, with heat shrink tubing slid over the ends of the four primaries and the 1/8" tube and shrunk down. No, you're right, thy're for a BBC. They have separate collectors, so finagling the pipes to match up to the ports on another engine wouldn't be too tough. bobss396 Posted September 20, 2011 Share Posted September 20, 2011 Look in the plumbing aisle of Ace or True Value hardware for Kester .062 solder. It comes coiled up in a tube but straightens out when rolled between 2 pieces of plexiglass.
