Flatout Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Built from the latest release of Monogram’s “BADMAN”, even after reading about all that was wrong with this thing I still had to have it. - Paint is Tamiya TS-16 Yellow - Hooker and Isky decals are from the “stash” to replace decals left out of this release - Tire lettering is from Slixx - Left off the “Mud Flaps” and the Air Dam …and the rest is from the box. CONS: The body showed the age (50 yrs?) of the molds. Some panel lines were nonexistent as were some of the lines for the window trim. The upper quarter panels were very wavy and needed to be block sanded. The kit is not very detailed. PROS: Once the “body work” was done the kit went together pretty well. The finished product is still pretty cool even after all these years… Thanks for lookin’… Edited December 24, 2012 by Flatout
Draggon Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Wow, thats one of the best builds of this kit I've seen. Great work Pete, but then, coming from you, its expected.
cobraman Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I have to agree with Glenn. Very nice build up of this kit. Good kit or bad kit it still looks good when built right.
slusher Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Best build of this kit l have seen, great paint finish...
Mad Viking Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Very nice build. Can't wait to start the one I have. BMF work looks great. So does the paint. Nice job.
Flatout Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 Guys...thanks for taking the time to look and I apreciate the favorable comments. Aloha...
Lovefordgalaxie Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Clean, almost sanitary build. Great paint, and foil job. I just love those old kits. People can say whatever they want about the advantages of modern tooling kits, but like the old cars the old kits depict, you have to deal with the good and bad aspects that come along with the age of the subject. Among my favorites are the AMT '57 Chevy (the old tool), the AMT '57 Ford, the AMT '65 and '66 Galaxies, and all versions of the AMT '40 Ford. The guys that designed those kits were contemporary to the guys that designed the real cars, those kits have a feeling that I call "back in the day" that no computer designed "wonder" will ever have. At least this is what I think.

Mister Twister Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Super clean and nicely detailed...Nice job!
TooOld Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I agree . . . Definetly the nicest Badman I've ever seen ! Great job .

It's a true builder that can take the (Lack of a better description,) BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH kit and turn it into something amazing.
Shardik Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Well, Pete, you've amply demonstrated that with skill and intent, the materials are almost irrelevant. One of the best sounding guitars I ever played was built from used pallets.
Flatout Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Harry...I'll shoot a pic and post it tomorrow. Aloha...
Tom Setzer Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Very Clean Build, and Great paint Job. I like it very muuch!
Chuck Most Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I love it when people take a substandard kit and prove it has real potential.
Alyn Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 A real standout 55, Pete. The yellow takes it over the top; perfect choice of color.
Alan Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Pete, Looking at what you have accomplished with this kit, I must say that it is the best rendition of this kit I have seen. The only thing i would change is the lettering on the slicks from yellow to a more period correct Blue Streak. I do get the yellow theme though. I like it!
Guest Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 The finished product is still pretty cool even after all these years… That is exactly right Pete! That is a very nice build! I can't wait to get mine and build it.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 VERY very nice! This was always one of my favorite builds from the 70s I did. I did one as the box art, and one in a fantasy racer. They were lost in a recent move, and I hope very much to get another one soon.
