fiatboy
Anybody ever build the Brigg's '70 Chevell LS6 convertible racecar driven by Ray Allen? If I am not mistaken there is a kit of a '70 Chevelle convertible. If so, there are probably a number of you guys who have. Any comments? Thanks
AC Norton
well, Jeffrey, I think the kit you are referring to is actually the AMT69 Chevelle ss convertible, as the 70 was never made that way, just as a hardtop. I suppose you could convert the current 70 Chevelle ss Jack Reacher issue to the Briggs car if your into some serious body massaging, and possibly fitting a convertible top from maybe the Revell 72 olds 442 kit....not certain if some of the resin sellers offer tops for the mid size GM cars, but like anything plastic, if there's a will, there's a way......getting decals made is another situation, as I don't think any seller makes them, but I could be wrong on that one. certainly would be an interesting build, of a very famous and award winner vintage super stocker....in the 1970 season that car gave fits to all its competition everywhere.....a true killer......hope this may help.....best,,,,,the Ace.......... afx
Always a good idea to post pictures of the car in question.
DumpyDan
Would be cool to do, I think would be fairly easy to cut the roof off and get a soft to fit. Easy Breezy
astroracer
I wouldn't even cut the roof off. Just add the soft top "shapes" to the hard top roof, trim at the bottom to suit and paint it white. Done.Mark
gtx6970
I've thought about replicating that car,,,just couldn't find decals Be pretty cool in the case next to a Red Alert build

Davewilly
You can remove the top easy enough. I dont have a photo of it but I did pick up a resin uptop from ebay that looks pretty good on it. it was for a 70-72 GM Edited February 29, 2016 by Davewilly
fiatboy
Thanks much, you guys. and Ace, you mentioned the Revell '72 Olds 442 kit that has an "up-top. I assume the AMT kit is 1/25; do you happen to know what the scale is for this Revell kit? Thanks again.
gtx6970
I looked at the uptop from the current 1/25th scale 72 Olds 442 kit. and it looks dead on the Chevelle top .I've been told the most accurate body 1970 Chevelle kit is the Revell snap kit which I am pretty sure is also 1/25th scaleI would use it , cut the top off of it and use the Olds uptop and chassis from it as wellI see the decals ARE avail. I just might have to get me a set for a future project Bill Ps, and btw any one know if that car was a real 454 vert, LS5 or LS6 car by chance Edited February 29, 2016 by gtx6970
1972coronet
Ps, and btw any one know if that car was a real 454 vert, LS5 or LS6 car by chanceFrom the information I've gathered from reliable sources , it is indeed a legit LS-6 droptop . It was ostensibly modified with typical pieces : 6 cylinder front springs and the such . That car dominated SS/EA ! It's one of my personal top 10 favourites !
