Lizard Racing Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Jim Reed was a New York Yankee in NASCAR-land. This car won the Southern 500 and two other races in 1959. I was a bit disappointed in the Yesterday's Decals not being entirely correct and complete. But they look good anyway.
MarkJ Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Always loved the 59 Chevys. You did a fantastic job on this one.
Reeves Racing Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Looks great. The decals look good from here. Were the black and white wheels to keep track of rights and lefts?
Lizard Racing Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 I've not been able to find an answer to that. The race picture at Darlington shows white wheels, while the post-race picture shows black wheels. He was known to run different sponsors left vs. right side, as shown in the pictures. During the race: white wheels and Fisher Bros. Winners circle: black wheels and Jim Reed's Garage. Thanks all for the kind comments.
59 Impala Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) Nice build Bruce. I like your build. I agree about the decals. Like I said in my thread, a friend of mine made mine for me. I do have to find the rest of the sponsor decals to finish mine. I read somewhere that Jim Reed ran the white wheels on the left side and the black ones on the right.
