cobraman Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Is/was there any 1/25 scale kit that came with a pair ? I need a set for a replica I am building for someone. Thanks !
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Lotta cheater slicks had / have nothin' but straight grooves to comply with the most basic definition of 'tread'. Not too hard to chuck a standard slick in a drill and cut a pair of grooves...if you can't find anything from a kit.
Longbox55 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 The Rat Roaster is the most recent kit I can think of that has a set. They're based on the Coker Tire reproduction Firestone cheater slicks.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Speed City also lists these in 7" and 9" widths, soft resin, for 6 bucks. http://www.speedcityresin.com/PartsPageTires.html
cobraman Posted May 15, 2016 Author Posted May 15, 2016 Thanks a lot guys. I will look into the ones at Speedcityresin. I think those would work well. You guys always have an answer ! Thanks again.
Snake45 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 The recent AMT Surf Woody reissue has not just one but two pairs of cheaters.
cobraman Posted May 15, 2016 Author Posted May 15, 2016 Thanks Snake, good to know. I ordered a set from Speed City Resin but this would be a good option if Speed City is as slow as Ma's Resin. 3 months and still waiting with no response to any of my emails asking when I might expect them. Never again.
High octane Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I've bought a few sets of slicks from Speed City Resin and I'm happy with them and their service.
gtx6970 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) Some pretty good ones in the Johan recharged kit. edit, didn't the old issue of the MPC 66-67 charger had some Mickey Thompson cheater slicks in it ?. if so they are slightly bigger than the Johan version Edited May 16, 2016 by gtx6970
Joel Naprstek Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Best ones from the old days were the M&H 7" tires that came with the Johann '64 Plymouth and Dodge S/S kits. I have no idea if they are still available in some form. Joel
