Lindberg 1966 Chevelle convertible.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone converted the 66 Chevelle to convertible? Any good ideas for a good donor? I want to make

somthing close to a car in my town, butternut yellow? mild lowered and 18" Torq Thrust wheels.

I was thinking the 66 Cutlass for doglegs and boot, arent these built on the same platform?

Not a yellow fan but this color is pleasant to look at. Very close looking to this one.

As I'm sure you already know you would have to fill the gap on the rear deck from the top removal. If you already have the Olds kit that should work for the top boot. I did a similar conversion once using the boot from an AMT "65 GTO kit. The interior dog legs for the top can be done with some Plastruct products.

Go with the Olds. The '64/'65 GM mid-size convertibles have a different shape to the tulip panel between the trunk lid and top opening than the '66/'67s do. The '66 Olds is the more correct for your purposes. Plus, the Olds also has an up-top, the GTO does not.

Thank you Steve. I build a 66 recently, crisp and nice detailed kit and the up-top is a very nice add on.

I wonder if the window-frame is the same on both 1:1 cars? My issue with the Oldsmbile kit is the glass

being too thick,so no matter how snug you glue in the windsheild, there still are annoying gaps. Well,i

just have to figure it out.
