Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 For many years I've looked at this model kit and finally decided to buy one and put it on Pneumatic Tires. The tires and wheels are from American Industrial Truck Models. I painted it a classic East Coast colors Krylon sweet cream and red pepper red.Hope you enjoy the pics what I have so far.
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) I will also be updating the headlights Edited November 6, 2016 by Pete68 Posted wrong
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm really liking what you're putting together with this one! Great work!!
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Thanks Brain, its a fun build so for very differnent from the run of the mill modern trucks I've built a lot of these Mack's in HO scale
Bennyg Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Did you have to alter the front or rear axle levels to ensure the chassis is level, as the original wheels fro the front are smaller than the original rear wheels? Cheers. Ben
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 No, but I will raise the front wheels a little higher for a more "Beefy" look. The wheels and tires are just a mock up for now they are not glued on yet I have some more work to do before I glue them.
Tesla Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Nice work and the colors are a great choice. Looking forward to your progress.
Superpeterbilt Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Very nice work. I like the color choice. I was working on something similar to this myself, same wheels and all. You are further along than I am, I look forward to seeing your progress.
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Terry thanks your truck looks good as well I like the Cab Shield. Dave (AITM) has been a lot of help with the parts for the build of this truck. I've built many in 1/87 Scale HO and always wanted to try one of these monogram kits. Here's some pics of Dave's and one I found on the net. The Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey and the one behind the glass is Dave's the other one is unknown. Hope to see some progress pics on yours soon.

I was making good progress on mine until I started scratchbuilding the older spoke wheels like on this truck. I got a master ready for casting, then put it all away. Your build is making me want to pull it back out. Edited November 6, 2016 by Superpeterbilt
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Terry I know the feeling about the casting part those wheels are going to look good. What are you waiting for pull that thing out and start building! Your truck reminds me of this one. By the way is that it a.k Mack winch truck in the background of your picture? Dave is always helpful and willing to give you pointers.
Superpeterbilt Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Lee, you are exactly right. Its an AK winch truck that was converted to diesel. I was building them both at the same time with a backdated lowboy.
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Terrythanks for getting that combination together absolutely beautiful! Have you shown Dave? I hope you didn't care I save this picture. If not you need to email him this picture he will love it. I also like the lowboy maybe someday I'll get around the building one of those Mack AK's. Keep up the excellent work!
Superpeterbilt Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Thanks Lee. I dont want to hijack anymore of your thread. If you want to check out anymore heres the link.
Chariots of Fire Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Hey you guys! I see lots of great stuff in this post! Everybody! "Gitter done"!! They are awesome!
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 TerryOk I will check it out. I got some more work done on the AC today. This kit is so old and the plastic is very briddle the frame another parts was warped really bad it was a challenge to get it all to fit right. I think I might keep the bed stationary and put a higher sub frame on it.
Aaronw Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 These Mack kits are neat, nice to see another being built. I started a conversion of one years ago into a rescue truck, but it hasn't gone anywhere for a long time... I don't know if you've seen it, but I posted a walk around of a local Mack dump that might be helpful for the details.
Pete68 Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Thanks guys for posting your AC Mack I really enjoy looking at them. I don't mine terry if you post more pics here on my thread I'm sure all of us would enjoy seeing your nice work. Here's some pics with the dump bed on it I really don't like the way it fits. The radiator guard bar I use a piece a stir stick for it instead of the simulated steel plastic one. I've seen them with both.
Chariots of Fire Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Here's an in progress pic of an AP Mack that was built about 3 years ago. I started with the AC but made new fenders based on Autocar A64B fenders. The front tires are resin castings and the wheels are straight from a later Mack kit. Rear wheels are from the AC kit but the tires are resin castings made from a Renshape master.
Pete68 Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Nice AP I seen it on Terry's thread thanks for posting it here like to see you guys AC Mack projects I hope to have some more done next week on mine
