I do like Revell's 57 Chevy Bel-Air Sedan's But the one flaw that the kit has is the stock rim's. To solve that problem I decided to use the tires, and rims from the Re-tooled AMT/Ertl copy. I do think they worked out better than what Revell put in the kit! What do you guy's think of the tire/rim swap over??

Very nice looking build and the Full Wheel Covers look perfect. I don't think anyone knows why Revell used the six lug wheels on the Bel Air. They put the correct wheels in the Black Widow kit and may have thought that all "57 Chevy's had six lugs, who knows. They had the perfect wheel from the '56 210 that they could have used. I know the '56's had 15" wheels and the '57's had 14" diameter wheels, but have you ever put the two wheels side by side ? The '56 wheels are the same diameter as the '57 wheels just 1 less lug nut. The tires are the same also, but just take a 1:1 7.50x14 tire next to a 6.70x15 and you will realize the difference. So as they say in hand grenades and horse shoes it's close.

I'd bet that re-using the 6 lug rims was a cost saving move on Revell's part. Most builders would either put the stock wheel covers on the stock steel rims (hiding the lug nuts) or swap the rims for something else. So no need to substitute for 5 lug rims.
