First formula one build I have done in 35 years...cripes I am old. I built these cars as a teenager and have amassed quite a collection of the classic Tamiya F1 lineup. So this one is the first

I will build it ála Mario Andretti and do some detailing.

So far rear clip is painted, finally, and assembled. Now doing some detail up work with PE and homespun stuff

Lots of paint call outs for the parts with multiple colours. Is a lot more work than I remember!

Those funnel screens look good Scot, where did you source those ?

Cheers

Believe it or not, they were in with the kit. Really nice preformed screens

The trumpets are just the chromed kit ones as well. I can still see the sprue ends on there, embarrassing

All that stuff is just posed for the photo, nothing on permanent yet so I can sort out the cowling fit and bodywork.

Thanks for looking:)

Looking good! What green does the instructions call out for the body? TS43 I am guessing

Yes TS-43, British Racing Green....I was going to try and decant it and spray through my airbrush

edit: nope, I am wrong, it is TS-9 BRG

Sprayed some lovely Mr Metal Color Aluminum diluted about 50:50 with Mr Leveling Thinner. Sprayed like silk, just so smooth.

Working on front nose, brake cylinders and such.

I missed some ejector pin marks that turned out more visible than expected, so I lined the nose with a foil

Everything is still loose, just test fitting

Scott, this looks great so far. The Mr. Metal Color Aluminum looks a lot less grainy than the Tamiya acrylic aluminum.

I tell ya Bill, it is one of the  sweetest  paints I have ever sprayed

i went about 50:50 with Mr Levelling Thinner and it just danced out of my H&S Ultra

Thanks guys, I am enjoying this build though the number of paint calls and tape ups I have to do are slowing me down.

I decanted the BRG Tamiya TS-9 on Sunday, nary a drop spilled. I have sprayed some of the body parts tonight, just letting them set up so I don’t finger print them like I usually do.

Thanks Dan

Got some first layers sprayed last night, photos soonish

If anyone tries the decant trick, you can spray the TS paint without dilution. I mixed it with thinner as I was worried but just got a thin layer with no pigment. So spray straight
