dragmodels44 Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 While waiting for the 283 parts pack for my MAG dragster, I wanted to do remake of my 53 Chevy Panel that’s been sitting. While looking through posts of other build I saw this oldie but goodie that reminded me of one I did as a kid. Remember the Revell red/white/blue 53 Panel truck? I’d finished it, but the body was flat black, like the gasser hot rods in primer. I saw someones red/white/blue 53 and thought how cool it’d be to have that one, especially since the 4th is here. Here’s some pics. Thanks for looking.
Scale-Master Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 I remember when my Dad built the one that is in the box art photos. He used "714" for the numbers because that was our new phone area code. I like the colors on yours a lot better.
dragmodels44 Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) Thanks! I used the model masters lacquers, star spangled blue, reving red and white lightening, then added a little house of kolors pearl flake to the clear. I had to use the stars from the Glidden monza decals as I couldn’t find any stars let alone bigger ones. Edited June 30, 2018 by dragmodels44 Spelling error
ChrisBcritter Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) Big time '70s flashback! Gotta try that kit again someday. Edited June 30, 2018 by ChrisBcritter
espo Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 I think this kit was patterned after a 1:1 Gasser from that era. I remember seeing a 1:1 Chevy Panel Gasser with that paint job many years ago, hard to forget that look. I like how yours is turning out.
philo426 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Awesome!I remember that kit and you did a great job replicating its paint scheme!
dragmodels44 Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 Thanks guys, the only thing I couldn’t replicate were the stars. I had to use some from another decal sheet
