Ace-Garageguy
If you want a model of something representing anything in reality, it's a complete waste of time...unless you want to do a LOT of work scratch-building. The only worthwhile parts for kitbashing something that might actually exist are the body shell, engine, and wheels / tires, plus a few other bits. The chassis is a joke of a thing designed by somebody who knew nothing about cars. As a parts source, it's worth something. As a model to build as is...nah. Rat Roaster
Saw a bunch of them at Ollies for 19.99$. Judging by the pics on the box of the builtup it wasn't even worth that. Sad, actually.

John Goschke
I built when I was a kid and thought it was really cool and my buddy's were impressed. As an accurate model of a '60 Fiat drag altered it's a waste. Cool parts kit if you build in that scale though if only for the tires and Halibrand wheels. Willie, look through the below existing topics discussing this exact kit and read/see for yourself if this kit is what you're looking for:
Greg Myers
Many good remarks there as well, and I already have an original version in my stash, thanks, all in the eye of the beholder. Edited July 24, 2018 by Greg Myers
Daddyfink
Sorry to say, but most Lindberg kits are pretty clunky BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Most of their good stuff was originally made by someone else. And that is not too many things.
Greg Myers
Make of it what you will. Certainly not garbage.
Johnt671
I don't know when I might start this one but I will do a build thread on it. The finished kit looks just OK, but the pictures of the frame look pretty good to me. We'll see.
Richard Bartrop
Except it's not even close to anything you'd use for a dragster of any sort.
regular guy
' Make of it what you will. Certainly not garbage' Frame is a reworked Kurtis Kraft frame. Probably more likely made from scratch using Kurtis as guide. http://www.forgottenfiberglass.com/technical/chassis-up-guys-get-yours-while-they-last-the-1953-kurtis-500-kk-frame-hop-up-october-1953/ Yes. Same kind of frame is used in Diamond Duster that was also SC 101 roadster. We own the kit and it is very high quality molding.

Ace-Garageguy
19 minutes ago, willieman said: Hmmmmm............................. While the chassis could be reworked into something less toylike, possibly appropriate to a '50s sports car, as mentioned above, it is absolutely wrong for an "altered" class drag car. A perusal of the google image results for "Fiat Altered" will demonstrate this quite conclusively. Furthermore, the kit does NOT come with the blower or the wire wheels shown in the photo of the built one. Note the front suspension on all of these: a simple, straight tube axle, chosen for being light. IFS (independent front suspension) is absolutely NOT required on this type of car. Neither is independent rear suspension. Too fragile, and moves around too much for the application. An equally simple parallel tube frame would be appropriate for an altered class car, not the unnecessarily complex thing in the kit. The engine in the kit is also not representative of anything real. It's a mashup of smallblock Chevy and Y-block Ford, with some other stuff thrown in. Edited July 25, 2018 by Ace-Garageguy
willieman
Even the AMT "double dragster"fiat has a much more believable chassis. Thanks for the pics Ace!!

You're welcome. The AMT double-dragster Fiat represents a rectangular tube chassis, with the rear end solidly mounted to the frame. That's entirely acceptable for an early car. The large diameter tubular front axle would be appropriate for a car without a whole lotta engine setback, especially a heavy early Chrysler hemi (over 700 pounds), as it would have to carry more static weight than a later, longer car with more setback (and possibly a lighter engine). A larger diameter mild-steel axle would also be likely on an earlier car, with a lighter chrome-moly axle on a later one.
regular guy
Some old business here. Lindberg models is spelled Lindberg. Charles Lindbergh the flyer is spelled this way. Limburger cheese is something else.Lindburgh could be a name somewhere. The molding on our Fiat is impressive. The body has a high gloss that I have only seen on the large scale T. Must be some kind of premium process they can do when they want to. New Serpent might be that way.

regular guy
Thanks. Getting into the every conceivable aspect to these things really is not for me. And probably 98% of the mankind. It has a high gloss. Boom.Done. Going to look at the Exterminator. Can't quite remember gloss deal but it is high quality molding. All in all. Good values. Maybe the Bullhorn T is high quality too.
