gtx6970
Well after some serious time away ( nearly a year I think ) from the bench I took some time over the past week or 2 and tried to get this one something closer to done . Family and I are in process of relocating to southern Arizona and I felt it would be best to have this one together with all major components in somewhat one piece to survive the move with a at least half chance to find everything once we start to unpack That said, It not 100% done. especially underhood . But its close enough to box it up . Interior was converted to a bench seat using an extra rear seat to replicate the actual car and painted with craft paint close to the original tan . Exterior is a duplicolor white, with Mopar Prowler orange with a VERY light coat of clear red on top of that . Then cleared with Testors wet look clear. In some pictures the 1/1 car looks more red , then others ir has more of a copper/bronze look to it. So I was torn as to how to complete the kit. It may not be 100% dead accurate but close enough for my bookcase. In person the red isn't as red at the pics on my monitor make it out to be either. I have a resin sedan I will build later and may look at a different color for it . I tried to use Johan fender well headers like the 1/1 had. But they didnt fit like I wanted so I went with the kit supplied versions instead. I may try again some day later on. ( ok, doubt it ) Regardless, for now its done enough I can wrap it up , in a box it goes for the 2000 mile ride. If all goes well I will be able to do some modeling this winter, but Im not counting on it. We bought property out there and plan to build a house on it as soon as possible. And there WILL be a modeling room trust me. But house comes first, then toys . Got to please the wife god This is one of my all time favorite super stockers from the period . So I was extremely happy when it was released last year. ( about the time I started this build ) Comments and criticisms more than welcome Thanks for looking in Edited July 25, 2018 by gtx6970

smhardesty
By the way, I saved a copy of the photo of the interior. I have one of these kits and I'll use your interior as a guide. Looks very nice. Super neat and clean. Hope I can do half as good.
Ron Hamilton
Looks great Bill. Thanks for publishing the pictures of the one to one car. It's going to help me build my kit, as I am going to do some 60's Super Stocks.

At least most of it. There no carbs, air cleaners or ignition system , or radiator /hoses My goal was to get the major assembly done before any thing got lost in the move. its already picked up a small chip in the side edge of the hood thats going to be near impossible to fix . its just dry assembled so I can take it back apart at a later date to 'actually' finish it 2 hours ago, Ron Hamilton said: Looks great Bill. Ron, If you need pics of this car . let me know I have several. As I save any / every picture of old drag cars I come up with. . But for some reason there doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there of this particular car. the picture I posted is the only one I can use to verify it was a bench seat car. I read on another board years ago it had cloth inserts in the seat , but no pictures to back that up. The sedan was bucket seat hemi car like the kit

As far as I know, There was no such thing as a Belvidere in 64 with Bucket Seats, They all had bench seats. I want to build The Lawman, The California Flash, Melrose Missle, Ramchargers 64 Dodge 440, The Dodge Boys 64 Dodge, Color Me Gone, and the Black Arrow 65 Belvidere I. And those are the Chrysler products. I have not gotten into the Ford or GM stuff yet. If I last long enough, I'm going to take a year and do Drag cars from the 60's. That will freak some folks out. All 1964 race hemi powered Belvedere and and Dodge Coronets had bucket seats straight out of the A100 pickups. And I'm pretty sure all were a champagne gold color. All the Race hemi cars were 2 door sedans . Picture is a 1965 , but its basically looks like this. Bucket seats, no back seat , carpet with no padding underneath. Door panels were very basic. Essentially just something to cover the door internals Edited July 24, 2018 by gtx6970

espo
I think your build turned out great. My knowledge of all the details on these cars is limited, but I noticed that the picture that GTX6970 provided shows the car as a tudoor post car and not a Hardtop. I know the race teams often would build many cars and it maybe that they built a Sedan and a Hardtop and the NHRA team number is also different. The 2 door hardtop is a 426 max wedge car.,,,,,ran beginning of the season. the 2 door sedan is a 426 Hemi car which came out mid season
