I haven't built anything in a year but the mood hit me today to start this one. My goal is a mini tubbed street car that will run in the 9's( in 1/4 mile) but also something that the average gear head joe would build in his basement. I'm using the amt sedan body and the monogram hard top chassis. Fitment was pretty close but a little shaving was required (will take some chassis pics in a day or so). Got the ride height set where I want it and will be ready to start adding some detail shortly. I'm wanting to go with 1 solid color instead of 2 tone, but can't decide on which color. I'm thinking about rally green or silver (please give me your opinion). Please give me your comments and let me know what you think

This looks like a very cool project. '55 Chevy is one of my all time favorite cars, especially as a Two Door Sedan. What engine are you going to go with? I'd be happy to see an "old school" Big Block or something like that, not any modern LS junk.:P

Afx the amt chassis has molded in muffler and pipes where the monogram chassis has a more detailed frame. The suspension has more detail capabilities

You have the stance, wheels and tires down. Are you going to run a front bumper ? The reason I ask is that the area between the grill and the bumper on this kit is shaped wrong. On the 1:1 car it is a fairly flat surface and the kit is ok until it drops behind the bumper. With a front bumper I don't think this would be noticed, but if you're going bumper less the flat forward facing surface is something you might want to trim off. With the much better Revell chassis this should be a great build.

Yes espo definitely needs the bumpers. Also a lot of mold lines that need attention. I've always preferred a post car over a hard top

Most people prefer the hardtops on most cars, but like you I like the post cars from this era the best.

This is gonna be sweet, I'd go with the green as well, it'll really make it stand out.

Kinda what I'm thinking. I saw one years ago and it stuck in my mind. Thank you

Gonna be nice with either color. The 55's just look really good with that stance and the big rear tires.

Thank you and I think they look tough with that combo

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!! Very cool build going on here. I know a lot of people don’t go for the tubbed out, pro street look, but nothing beats a 55 like it. I have one of these started, and stored away, that I should bring out, and actually finish.

That's gonna be cool.

I've been planning a '55 build along the same lines as yours, even have the same wheels in the box for it. Hadn't really thought about a chassis swap but I do have a Revell '55 cvt I was never planning to build though so??  ;)

Going to do mine in black and white like a "black widow" '57 and have a big block .

Those cars do look good in green, I'll be following this build for sure.

Hello everyone, got a little time at the bench this morning. Boy you sure don't realize how rusty you get when you haven't built anything in a while lol. I'm not gonna put a whole lot of detail into this one (just getting the mo joe back). Decided to go with flat black on the chassis and will probably go with some sort of steel or titanium color for springs and etc. The ride height is so low I found some parts box springs with no arch for the rear. Also made some simple spring boxes (not really accurate but will do) and also a half driveshaft loop. Still need to make the wheel yuns which will actually stick through the back seat (because of the low ride height).Parts box once again came through on a set of seats ( i think from a Corvette). Put a quarter stick shifter together from scott at futurattraction and painted up the steering wheel. Hopefully I will have a few more updates in a few days as I'm waiting on engine parts to arrive. Hope you enjoy

Sorry for the last update I couldn't get the files to upload. You have to turn the phone sideways to take the picture. It worked out well as I forgot about using a set of tubular a arms from a nascar kit. Still haven't decided on the color yet. Leaning toward rally green but we will see. Thanks for looking
