Greg Myers Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Can someone explain how this has anything to do with these particular cars ?
stavanzer Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Yes, it is a Three Stooges phrase. Curley said it. As far as What those kits have in common with the Stooges, the answer is, not much. But all are the right era for the Stooges, and I would hope that there are more Stooges Tie In kits in the future. I'm sure the vast majority of the Stooges kits sold, are still sealed, and sitting in collections across the world. Stooge-mania is huge, and these are prime Stooge collectables. Like the Coke Kits, Builders are really not the target markets for these kits. And, I am so glad of that. It keeps kits in production that I would not always see, and pays for kits that we might not get otherwise. As others have mentioned, Tom Lowe is an expert in these kinds of markets, and using them to pay the freight is sharp, smart business.
ChrisBcritter Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 If you mean the phrase itself, it was spoken by Curly in Pop Goes the Easel, a Stooge short from 1935. It was a one-time gag, but it became more of a catchphrase after it was quoted in the lyrics of "The Curly Shuffle".
