DRIPTROIT 71 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) This one began with the Ertl Dump truck kit #8029. The engine is a 6v-92T from Auslowe with valve covers from KJ at Double Take Replicas. The lift axle is from Gary at GW Trucks. All of the wheels and tires are from Jamie at moluminum as well as the pintle hitch. Stripes are from Jerry at modeltuckin. The bed was widened. The sides were lowered. The inside and out was sheeted with very thin aluminum that was dented. The tailgate was completely scratch built, along with several other scratch built items. It is meant to represent a recently repainted and refurbished truck that maybe someone bought and decided to go into the dump truck business. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with this one. towman1271 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 That turned out so perfect. Great details and weathering
Spruslayer Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Can i get 20 ton of #6 gravel by Saturday? Brian, you knocked that one out of the park Excellent!
Hermann Kersten Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 You did a great job Brian! De details are awesome and look real. The different tires, rims and the 3th axle with the small wheels, are great details on this truck, and especially shows that this is a workhorse. I also find the tipper with the dents very convincing, all in all a great model! Hermann.
purepmd Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 OH, this turned out beyond cool! You perfectly captured the 'used but not abused' look. Very slick build!
grodudulle77 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Wow, i believed it was a real truck! Excellent work !??
Warren D Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Very well done, can you drop me a load of screened loam for the weekend?
DrKerry Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Great build Brian! Love the weathering on it, looks like a real dump sitting there! I mean that in a good way too!! Lol
Tesla Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 As others have said, it looks like a real truck! Congrats on an awesome looking build!!!

There is also an extra charge for spreading as opposed to simple dumping. Saturday's schedule is pretty full, but it can probably be worked in. ? I've got to take a load of #6 gravel to Spruslayer. How far is it again from Indiana to Connecticut? ? 4 hours ago, DrKerry said: Great build Brian! vincen47 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Now this is excellent all the way around. What a crowd pleaser! It’s got everything. I especially like the dented bed effect, truly spectacular - you’ve got the inside wear from all those loads too! My favorite builds are ones like this, using techniques I can learn from.
1959scudetto Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Excellent, Brian ! I've never seen such a perfectly detailed dumper body inside - the dents, the bare metal, the ribs on the floor shining through the rust - like the real thing !!!
CRUSADER2 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 A really fantastic job (again) love all the details, the hose and air intake clips really finish off the engine details a treat, really inspirational work all round, excellent !!!
TECHMAN Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 ??? WOW!!!!! That turned out FIRST CLASS all the way!!!!! DJ
gotnitro? Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Off the charts build ! Ditto what's been said before, ya have to look twice to realize it's not a real truck. Killer work

Thanks Cary! As far as techniques go, I learn as I go. ? I've had this idea for a while, I just never tried it. Dump trucks are real common around here and especially old steel beds are always full of dents, On 10/6/2019 at 10:35 AM, 1959scudetto said: Excellent, Brian !
