Andrew D the Jolly Roger Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I'm doing the Dixie Jeep (Daisy Duke's); not sure how to do the floor. Using the Monogram "Mork & Mindy Jeep" kit. I'm convinced there's black on the flooring, but whether it's mats or paint, or what, and then to what extent (what's black and what's white) I can't figure out. Tried googling pics of CJ7 floors and everything seems to be heavily customized or a total wreck, not indicative of the near-factory-fresh item used on the TV show. Can't imagine I'd just paint the whole flooring black from firewall to tailgate.... How would you interpret what to do? ]
espo Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I'm pretty sure the floor boards would have had a black rubber mat covering the foot wells. That would have been standard on most models. The exception might be for one of their special trim options where carpet might have been included.
Andrew D the Jolly Roger Posted November 6, 2019 Author Posted November 6, 2019 Ok; would that only be for the front seats, or might it have also been for the bench seat in the rear?
Jordan White Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 According to the brochure for the '79 Golden Eagle, it would have had full brown carpeting. https://www.xr793.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/1979-Jeep.pdf
iamsuperdan Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Jeep floors are painted body colour. The older models would have had carpeted floor coverings on the higher trim levels. The CJs would hjave been brown. The YJs had grey carpeting. The TJs had both tan and black. Carpets were never secured to the Jeep, they were always easily removable.
stavanzer Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 My '79 CJ-5 had Tan coloured Seats, both front and back. The floor was all body colour. (White for my Jeep) Mats in the front were factory, black rubber. The mats were badly worn and quickly replaced with new ones from Pep Boys. Hope this helps. Alan
espo Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I think that Jordan Whites post pretty much answers any questions for the specific model in question. The Golden Eagle was one of the special models for that year that included carpeting. In the brochure it mentions the Decor Group that would give you the option of adding most or all of the appearance features of the Golden Eagle to any model that year. We had a '97 TJ Sport trim level and it had the light brown carpets and the floor boards were dark blue same as the exterior color. Our '09 JK Sahara has black colored carpet with the gray interior and the floor is again the exterior color called Red Rock Crystal Pear.
NOBLNG Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 There are some pretty good pics on this site... https://www.vintagejeepparts.com/categories/1976%2d1986-CJ7-%26amp%3B-CJ8/Interior-%26-Interior-Dress%2dUp/Floor-Mats-%26-Carpeting/
Plowboy Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I owned a Golden Eagle for a little while. It had painted floors and black rubber mats and seats. Probably like most vehicles in that you could have it however you wanted. I've never seen a CJ with carpet. But, that doesn't mean anything.
