yellowsportwagon Posted November 15, 2019 Author Posted November 15, 2019 Chassis mods are pretty much done now.
yellowsportwagon Posted November 15, 2019 Author Posted November 15, 2019 Decals are on. Ready for more clear.
Phildaupho Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Being a huge Dan Gurney fan I had to check out your project and find out more about. You are doing a fantastic job on this project and I look forward to seeing it being under glass. Dan was the master of Riverside having won there many times. As has been noted' he had not raced for 10 years. Yet was able to start seventh and work his way up to second before dropping out with transmission problems while running third. The back story is very interesting. There is a good summary on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Gurney

MarkJ Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Tim, not sure, but I think I've seen the Superbird before, but its still one of the best I have ever seen done. My memory is funny. I can remember things form the fiftys and sixtys better then I can remember the last couple of years.

Dave Van Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Your mods to the lower body really help in that last photo......I'll keep in mind when I build one.
yellowsportwagon Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 Got the chassis done on this. Basically just final details now.
yellowsportwagon Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) All finished Edited December 9, 2019 by yellowsportwagon
MarkJ Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Awesome job, Tim. Up to your usual top flite standards. Thought there would be a finished thread for this but everybody will eventually see the end result. Again, Beautiful job on the Monte.
yellowsportwagon Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 Probably should have done that 14 hours ago, MarkJ said: Awesome job, Tim. Up to your usual top flite standards. yellowsportwagon Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 Forgot the red stripes on the front

Possibly a team car painted the same way and they needed a way to tell them apart? Things like this peak my interest. Again , Awesome job on this build.

The car was an Osterlund rental Hence the color blue. White substituted for the yellow.
Matt T. Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Great tips here on making the kit body look better! I will certainly use a few on my build. I don’t know about the red stripe either, but there is a red stripe included in the Salvinos JR Bobby Allison 1981 Riverside winner kit also. It is a red stripe for the top of the grille.
