Michael Bloes Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 This is built from the Moebius truck kits. I had to buy three kits to get my configuration, which is: 1969 model year 302 small block and long-bed. I couldn't really figure out another way.
Michael Bloes Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 Here's the chassis. The model doesn't have the air intake for the radiator opened up so I opened up mine and added some p/e radiator stuff in front for detail. The hubcaps are some resin jobs from ebay. I had to mill out the center of my wheels and then drop the hubcaps in. Wheel color is Tamiya "racing white".
Michael Bloes Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 My motor is recently rebuilt so I didn't really feel a need to weather it. My truck has power steering so I had to add another pulley for the p/s pump. My air cleaner and valve covers are from some resin / p/e kit for small block fords. I added the ribs to them myself using some micro styrene rod. Distributor is actually wired 1542 etc.
Michael Bloes Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 My interior has had pretty much everything replaced. Dash is all handpainted and I added padding to the dash. I have a Ford logo in my horn button but it was too small for me so I just left it out on the model.
iamsuperdan Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Dang. That is some excellent work! You should try some forced perspective photography, and make it look like the model is parked next to the real thing. I think your build is definitely good enough to pass for a twin.
mikemodeler Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 That is one nice truck, and the model ain't bad either! LOL! It's nice having the 1:1 in the driveway for reference, you nailed it ! And for future reference, there are many here (myself included) who would engage you in trades for parts needed to complete a build. It is a great way to meet fellow modelers and keep you from buying a $30 kit for just one part, and something we all have done.
89AKurt Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 That's fantastic! Did a great job shrinking your truck down. I've been tempted to get one of those kits, but I'm a '68 Chevy pickup owner, so have that to duplicate.
my80malibu Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Stunning Recreation I must say, Spot on.
espo Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Great looking build. Hard to tell one from the other.
carrucha Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Cool replica. Nice work on the weathering.
Repstock Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Very nice model...looks great! To those who might build the Moebius pickup: That trim under the rear window is only there if the top is painted a different color. If painting the truck a single color, you should sand that trim off.
DukeE Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Great build/paint/detailing. Nice honest truck. Fun. TY for showing.
Michael Bloes Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 First off, thanks everybody for the positive comments. 17 hours ago, Repstock said: Very nice model...looks great! I mean, I even have my own truck for reference.
Atmobil Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Very nice build and really cool to see both 1:1 and 1:25 versions. Great to build a model of your own full scale vehicle

It's just a minor detail...the model still looks outstanding.
Fish_65 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Awesome job Michael. The patina/weathering is spot on. Possibly my favorite Moebius 67-72 Ford pickup build yet. Definitely in the top 5.
