john843 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I've never seen, or at least never noticed, the sump pan protector coming down from the front bumper in the third pic Dr. Larry posted of the Pearson resto. Neat detail, has anyone seen that on a period car? John Quote

RancheroSteve Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I found this in my (digital) files - something I scanned from a book at some point. I think when they say "first" they mean NASCAR first. Quote
gks1964 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 That's a great pic, have anything from the outside of the pan? Gerald Quote

Force Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) Here is a couple of pictures of the Ford FE dry sump system used in the GT40 Mk II and Mk IV, it's different from the Boss 429 setup as the pump is driven internally inside the special aluminum front cover, the rest of the oil pan is magnesium. This is the GT40 Mk II but the later Mk IIB had the oil reservoir at the rear of the car instead of at the front, the scavenge pump in this picture is wrong as that's where the oil filter normally goes, the in and outlets from the pump can be seen at the bottom of the front cover in the pictures above. gks1964 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 What kit engine would most use to build NASCAR stock car? 1/25th, 1/24th? Which kit? Thanks, Gerald Quote
gks1964 Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 Spent a few days building a master to replace the Polar lights 429 dry sump oil pan. Still needs 25 bolt heads added, but first I need to uncross my eyes maybe tomorrow! The 3rd pix is a comparison to the kit part Quote
