Gramps46 Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 It was either late 1961 or early 1962 and I was a sophomore in high school when I was inspired by the pictures in Hot Rod. I don't remember exactly where the plastic parts came from but the frame is from a coat hanger and the small rails are from my grandmother's hat pins. The body was a sheet of copper that I beat into shape. Those were fun times and I am lucky to still have it. 1
Snake45 Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Wow, pretty impressive! Better than about 90% of the "Readers' Models" in the old model car mags of the day.
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Impressive work. Cool that its survived all these years.
alan barton Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 That is a great piece of history to still own after all these years. You obviously did a great job back then. The rear wheels and tyres plus the engine and headers look like they came from the AMT Double Dragster kit, with ram tubes added. Cheers Alan
Gramps46 Posted May 28, 2020 Author Posted May 28, 2020 Thank you to all who responded and yes I am very lucky to still have the dragster.
Straightliner59 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 That is cool as hell! Nice work, Gary. Very, very interesting piece of history.
