Revell T1 VW Camper van

I want one of these but I see the body being like a house of cards with my luck.   LOL.   I found this one the Revell DE site - it's the flower power van, but shows the basic assembly sequence and the body construction.  The PDFs on the page are by kit number.  The camper isn't on there yet.

Interestingly these are multi-piece, while Hasegawa VWs are have one-piece bodies, and at least one was issued as a Revell US release.

I'ts cheaper to tool that way and...IIRC a heritage kit to commemorate the 50th birthday of Revell and the original multi piece kit.

It's too bad Hasegawa didn't put some effort into getting the inside surfaces smooth on the one-piece body in their kit.

Or include the correct wheels, the box art of all their VW T1 kits shows them correct, open the box and you find VW Beetle wheels instead

OK, I guess I missed the commemorative angle to this release.  And yes, I do recall some shortcomings with the Hasegawa kit.  I recall getting it on markdown so it was a fairly good deal at the time (and as I said, it was reboxed by Revell).  The new Revell kit almost looks fiddly with all the fine details.  They look great, though I'm still holding out for the T2 that has been promised.

Will there be a US release on this kit?  I got one the other day from an eBay seller in England, shipping included it was cheaper than Model Empire's price.

I got mine off Amazon. Had it here in a week from Germany. All in was $52!

Mine was just over $36 from England, free shipping to USA as stated in their listing.  It got here in under a week as I recall.   eBay dinged me for NY sales tax, bringing the total to just under $40.  I didn't know Model Empire had it when I ordered mine, but even so their price plus shipping would have topped $40.

And the kit is very nice.  Can't wait for the Type 2.

Has anyone built one of these with the multi piece body? Comments?

I've built the multi piece body from the transporter and had no fitting issues. It went well together. Doors and hatch open and close perfect.

my brother has built the samba and the first try ended in ordering a new body from RoG as it was too much warped and no chance to get it fixed.

i think, the earlier kits fitting good, the later ones could be tricky. as sayed, mine was perfect.

did you built your as per instructions, or it possible to build and paint the body as a unit?

I've not built mine yet but I have studied the instructions and parts. For some of the body sections the interior parts seem to be part of the fitting points so I expect it would need to be done as per the instructions, but it may be different when actually building. I think I'll try one of the buses or vans first to see for sure though
