StanGlover Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Just finished up this MPC ‘75 Datsun truck! Built from the recently reissued Lil’ Hustler kit. Airbrushed in Tamiya XF-17 Sea Blue for the exterior, XF-55 Deck Tan for the interior. Box stock except for the sport door mirror from the AMT ‘66 Mustang. This kit went together pretty well overall with plenty of detail, but there was a fair amount of flash on most of the parts. Also, my chrome tree was warped so I couldn’t use many of the custom parts (not that I wanted to). Overall I’m happy with the results and I love the color combo! 3
Tom Geiger Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Very nice work! I love the flat finish. I agree this is a very nice kit to build. Best kept secret that a lot of the MPC kits of this era are very nicely engineered.
StanGlover Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 Thanks Tom! I agree with you on MPCs. I buy kits based on subject over kit brand, and tend to gravitate towards 70s and 80s cars - peak MPC era. I love their wild box art too so I have several other MPCs in my stash!
espo Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Great looking little pickup. The exterior finish sure looks like a very flat Black rather than a Blue in the pictures. Nice interior and the wheels look good on this.
VanSpence Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Great looking mini truck. You did a great job with this kit!

StanGlover Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 Yeah it’s definitely more of a charcoal gray than blue. I actually bought that paint color thinking it would be a navy blue and was surprised how dark it is.
Spottedlaurel Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Really good to see, it's turned out very nicely. I have an old California Sunshine version of the 620, it looks like it has parts in it to build near-stock. I've been slightly nervous about starting it, must get on with it!

I owned a 72, it was a true blast to drive. Wish I still had it.
gray07 Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 looks awesome, love the way it turned out. 1
