Hi there! styrene_engineer_20201021_031259_0.jpg.78d55478ed003f318b0eb275e65bedcf.jpg

#DIY Sanding stick. During building my models I need to sand plastic.  Sanding sticks are the best way to do this.  I make them myself. For this you will need:
-sanding paper(any grit you need)
-double side foamed tape
-plastic card or any piece of plastic
-sharp knife
-ruler

First cut strip of plastic and sand edges to make them smooth.

Then cut a piece of foamed tape and glue to plastic strip.

Cut off excess tape. Cut necessary strip of sanding paper and glue it to the stick with tape.

If you need double side sanding stick then glue sanding paper from another side.

I make my own too. I use 3M tape and I cut one side flush so I can sand tight to an inside 90 degree corner. The other side, I leave the sandpaper Sticking out 1/16”- 3/32”  so I can sand an inside radius corner.

Great idea! I should to try your variant too.

This is why I leave the paper wider than the stick. It makes it easy to sand an inside radius like this without leaving any score marks from the edge of the stick.

I sometimes use either rubber cement or C.A.to adhere paperback sandpaper to make a sanding tool for a special application where there isn't much clearance and there isn't room for double sided foam tape.

I make mine out of popcycle sticks cut to whatever width I want. I cut strips of whichever grit of sandpaper I was a little wide & use Testors glue that's in orange/red tube. When dry I trim off excess sandpaper.

I made my sanding sticks with one of my kit's box (at least everybody has one) and white glue.

I made a little video with english translations :)
