MPC 57 Chevy

Just this week I got rid of 30 years worth of kits, parts, projects, etc. Loaded it all up in the truck and went to the local flea market, pit a sign on the truck bed, FREE just take it all...walked over to the drug store and 20 minutes later it was gone, what a relief!! No more distractions to deal with. So I.m starting over fresh with a new kit, will be OOB except for a couple of changes. And here it is after 4 days, not bad for me, I usually take four days to figure what I'm doing.

The chassis is pretty much generic, mine was warped real bad but I got it close to straight, right now this build is on hold while I figure out if I can get the warp out of the front fender unit.. Other than that its pretty straight forward as far as building.

Thanks!  Im torn between this kit and the 1/16 57 Chevy convertable

Although I really like this kit, and it is very basic, the warping problem just spoils it for me. Even after I straightened the chassis  it has returned to left wheel doing a wheelie..

Put some ripple wall slicks on it and it'll look like thats what it's doing, but of course will need a driver. 🤣😂

Well sorta, the front axle is so small in dia. that the ends keep sagging, I'm going to rebuild it with some alum. tubing just as soon as I can get to the store. The engine is complete and I've started doing the foil work. Will post update when I get these problems worked out.

I did that cleaning house bit, a long time ago. I got rid of kits, and parts, and I wished I hadn't. Tastes change, but eventually the wheel comes back around, and those 50's and early 60's cars and kits I ditched were all I wanted to build.    This 57,by the way looks to be a bad ash ride.

Thanks James, it is a fairly good kit, good bit of flash as you say, My reason for stopping on this one is the front axle is so small in diameter that it will not hold the weight of the model without bowing at the wheels. I planned on building a new axle but just have to many other things going. I will finish it someday..
