BIGTRUCK
I had this original 40 body for years and when I came across a part or two for it, in the box it went until I something to work with. Now is that time. I think I have 4 or 5 different kit parts ,tan hood, 2 shades of grey, white, and black parts. Mild hot rod is where Im going with it, nothing radical, I dropped it down some. Filled in front bumper slots and smoothed it in. Red wheels and pretty stock interior . The body color maybe black, I hate painting black, we'll see🤔😁 Edited April 16, 2021 by BIGTRUCK

They were in the the 40 ford box when I got it , but last week I got a set in a Renwal 66 Stutz kit that could also be made into a slot car, they seemed to be made of real rubber. They are different from the early slicks in TS kits. The Avanti kit mentioned above was a Trophy Series kit. They may have come in other AMT kits too. BIGTRUCK
Some small additions besides being all one color now. The body was missing vent window bars and center bar on windshield. Added some trim on the skirts so they are not so plain. Center bar on grille leading up to hood trim. The addition of side pipes were an after thought that I'm sure will stay. Paul Payne
Looking really good! I like the rear fender skirt trim! Personal opinion- lakes pipes along the running boards instead of the dump pipes.
oldscool
Those slicks were also in the 32 Ford Vicky kit. I remember two different sizes of those slicks but don't know which size was in what kit.

BIGTRUCK
I thought I had lost a custom resin 39 grille I had ,but I found it and started fitting that in.

BIGTRUCK
Body is done. I changed a few things with the hood sides and attached rear of hood corners to the firewall. Color is Tamiya semi-gloss then cleared. Now the wait for this to cure, so the interior and flathead up next. Mercury resin grille blended in fine with the help of evergreen strips on the sides. BIGTRUCK
Chassis done, body has last coat of clear on ,that makes 3 coats. Soon as that cures up I'm trying out Tamiya rubbing compounds. I've only used polishing cloth method before never used the coarse, fine and finish compounds. I think black is not going to be the color to test new waters on.🙃 Edited May 14, 2021 by BIGTRUCK
espo
Unless you have some orange peal, which I can't see in your pictures, you may not need the Course compound. Suggest trying the Fine compound first in a test area. Their Course can cut through paint pretty good and you wouldn't want to get into the color coat anymore than you need to. Your Black paint job looks pretty smooth in the photos.
BIGTRUCK
This week is getting the chrome foiling done. Most of the flathead is done and installed. Interior is in primer but not sure on the color.
