Tommy124 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 (edited) Hi there, I just finished this project which I started 3 years ago. The kit is the Tamiya 956 "Kenwood" kit, I used the Tamiya PE parts set and Shunko decals on this. Paint is Zero Paints basecoat + 2K automotive clear. The engine detail is very poor on this kit, so besides using the PE parts I added some scratch-built details. Edited May 18, 2021 by Tommy124 6
89AKurt Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 You did a really nice job on that! I have that kit, still sealed, wondered what it would look like. The amusing thing is the box art, how they deleted the evil cigarette sponsor logos, surprised the decals were included.
1959scudetto Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Very nice rendition of this legendary Group C racer, Thomas !
Gluebomber Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Nice clean build, Thomas. I've had this car on my project list for several years as well. I hope mine turns out as well as yours!
TonyK Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 That is such a great car and you made a great looking model of it. Really enjoyed looking at your pictures.

Gotta give Tamiya a little slack this was tooled up back in 1986, and was their first ever full detail kit. ? Edited May 20, 2021 by niteowl7710
majel Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Fantastic job!! That is a great looking build, well detailed.
Silver Foxx Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Super nice build , great detail and decal work .
AlbertD Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Very nice. May I ask what you used for your clear coat? It looks perfect and I'm sure was a lot of work.
Venom Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Wow! Really good work all around on this build... Excellent details, especially in the engine bay. Nice clean lines and impressive decal application. Thanks for the great photos!
Tommy124 Posted July 4, 2021 Author Posted July 4, 2021 Many thanks guys, I appreciate it! On 7/3/2021 at 2:11 AM, AlbertD said: Very nice. May I ask what you used for your clear coat? The 956 kit doesn't have the rear brake cooling ducts( while the closed up 962 kit does. Go figure) and other small details. At least it goes together well.

Tommy124 Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 It's been a while since I showed this build... Only now, a mate from a German forum told me that my build has been featured in the printed Model Cars Magazine, issue #212, in the "Forum finds" section. ?
Rattlecan Dan Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 One of my all-time favorite race cars. Would have sworn that was 1:1 real at first pic. Fabulous job. Super build. Congrats! Thanks for posting.
