Hi there,

I just finished this project which I started 3 years ago.

The kit is the Tamiya 956 "Kenwood" kit, I used the Tamiya PE parts set and Shunko decals on this. Paint is Zero Paints basecoat + 2K automotive clear.

The engine detail is very poor on this kit, so besides using the PE parts I added some scratch-built details.

You did a really nice job on that!  I have that kit, still sealed, wondered what it would look like.  The amusing thing is the box art, how they deleted the evil cigarette sponsor logos, surprised the decals were included.

That is such a great car and you made a great looking model of it. Really enjoyed looking at your pictures.

Gotta give Tamiya a little slack this was tooled up back in 1986, and was their first ever full detail kit. ?

Very nice. May I ask what you used for your clear coat? It looks perfect and I'm sure was a lot of work.

Wow! Really good work all around on this build... Excellent details, especially in the engine bay. Nice clean lines and impressive decal application. Thanks for the great photos!

Thanks Albert. I used 2k clear coat over Zero Paints (Pure White & Rothmans Racing Blue).

"Full detail" is open to interpretation. The 956 kit doesn't have the rear brake cooling ducts( while the closed up 962 kit does. Go figure) and other small details. At least it goes together well.

It's been a while since I showed this build...

Only now, a mate from a German forum told me that my build has been featured in the printed Model Cars Magazine, issue #212, in the "Forum finds" section. ?
