happy grumpy Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Yes the last picture is the real car. This is a loose representation of a car I owned in 1987. It was brand new, kept it 'til 2000 when it got stolen and totaled by kids who took it for a joy ride. Really loved that car. It had a modest 2.8 L but with a performance chip and the whole suspension replaced with the GTA's, it handled almost like a go kart being much lighter . the last picture is my 1987 firebird when it was a few months out the dealership. I try to build the cars that I owned, so far I almost have them all . The closest I could find was the monogram 1992 formula. The hood and the wheels are different but I back dated the front facia and the rear lens to what they were in 87. A few years before it was stolen, I thought of having it repainted in the same color but without the gold trim at the bottom, but it never happened so at least I can look at what it would have been like. Of all the cars that I owned over the years, this is the one I enjoyed driving the most. thanks for looking. 1
Chuckyg1 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Convincing representation of your real ride. Well planned & executed. That 1:1 sounded like a sweet ride.
Rbray47 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Nice replica. I always liked the looks of those cars.
AMT68 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 At first glance I thought the first picture was the real car. Excellent work.
Zippi Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Great build Mario. If you wouldn't have said so, I would have thought the last pick would have been the model.
TransAmMike Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Beautiful Mario? One of the way too many real cars I owned was an '87 Formula. Enjoyed the heck out of it.
spencer1984 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Great looking Firebird, I always liked the look of these. Sorry to hear how it turned out.
espo Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Your build looks just like your real car. Nothing like building a model of a car or truck you have owned. Sorry about hearing that it got stolen and even then was wrecked. That is like adding insult to injury. Any one else who has had a car stolen can understand the feeling.
Chuck Mols Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Brings back memories, I had an 85 in 87, brown metallic top with gold bottom. V6 engine, loved that car. Wish I could find one in respectable shape again. Great build , thanks for sharing.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I always loved that gen (I was a teen when those were new), beautiful build, my friend!
