M W Elky Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 This little I stocker started life as a 40%off hobby lobby kit that I pirated the spun aluminum wheel, and hood scoop out of it for a pro stock build. Which left me with enough parts to build this neat little stocker. I think it really looks boss with the fender well headers. the steel wheels are left overs from the revell 32 5 window kit the slicks and front tires are amt Fred Caddy made the decals many years ago the dual quad intake, carbs, and air cleaner’s came from amt’s parts pack I made the headers from solder and aluminum tubing the grill is two pieces of piano wire the interior floor pan interfered with the transmission tunnel on the chassis, so I cut out the top of the tunnel then it all fit pretty good. You have to figure this kit was born from the nomad kit so a couple of fit issues aren’t to bad. All and all l think amt/ertl did a good job on it. thank’s for looking ?. Mike 1
Zippi Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 That's a good looking 55 old school Stocker. I like the look.
papajohn97 Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Very cool model of one my favorite historic stockers Mike. The decals came out great considering they are old Fred Cady. Would love to see what the headers look like from the underside.

I keep all my decals in plastic storage containers, and in a climate controlled room. Here’s a picture of the headers. I use 3/32” solder to make them which I’ve been having a hard time finding lately.
papajohn97 Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Thanks for posting the header pic Mike! Scratch-building a pair of symmetrical headers out of solder in 1/25 is quite a skill, yours came out great! The few times I’ve tried it, it gave me a sense of what the custom header builders had to go thru back in the day to fit between them the block and the chassis, a lot of bending, fitting, rinse & repeat.
