Monty
I came across a brief discussion of a Gundam chrome pen on another model car board. One member mentioned its tip is cut at an angle, which might come in handy in certain situations. Another said the finish was more durable than Molotow. Anyone here used one of these? Is the chrome finish as good as Molotow's? Are they as expensive?
espo
I have started using the Gundam chrome pen as suggested by another builder in this site. For myself I have fund it much easier and less messy to use than the Molotow pens. In my opinion the chrome finish is better in the cases where I have used it. Time will tell as far as durability and how it will hold up when handled. I'm pleased enough with the results that I'm going to buy some of their other colors to see how well it will work for other detailing. Googling "gundam chrome pen" gets several hits of different stuff. It was a very brief "conversation" on the Spotlight Hobbies board. IIRC only two people were involved, and no pictures were posted. Looks like someone has posted a pic of the actual item for us.
Ace-Garageguy
Going by the video, if that's the stuff...nah. The airbrush rig is pretty cool, but the "chrome" itself looks like an express ticket to second or third rate work.

Don Sikora II
The Mr. Hobby Gundam chrome marker is the best chrome pen that I've found so far. It does have an angled tip. I bought it at my local Hobby Lobby. https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/Plated-Silver-Gundam-Marker-EX/p/81054693 Unfortunately Mr Hobby stuff isn't labeled well in the US. Some of the pens/markers are opaque and others are transparent so they can be tricky to buy if you don't know exactly what you're looking at. Still, I've become a fan of the Gundam markers. The trick I've found with Molotow and this Gundam pen are to "bake" the parts after application to help the chrome ink dry throughly which seems to help make the surface more resistant to fingerprints. I've had good results doing this in my old food dehydrator and my new Micro Mark Doctor Dry Booth that I recently picked up after the dehydrator finally gave up. Doctor Dry Booth isn't a cheap date, but after a friend raved about his I dug deep and have been very happy with it. 1
