Smilesperhour Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 (edited) This is my first build I've finished and not thrown to one side. A lot went wrong, a lot was learned, a lot will be done better next time. But felt good to finish a model, this is an old mould and had lots of fit issues. I gave up blending the side (base to top of body) and realise that I could of done some more wet and dry to remove the sanding marks from filling sink holes. This was going to be the Oulton Park, first e type winner 'ecd 400' but I realised the roof is just a textured hard top and nothing like the real cars soft top. Everything is out the kit except I made some light housing out of an old birro pen after seeing a nother build do it. I'm using these starter kits to learn on before going back to a more complicated Camaro project. I have another e type that I'll take my learning from this one to do better. rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 In spite of all the Gremlins, you have a cool E Type. Have only attended Goodwood Revival on a visit to friends in 2002. Hope to return and visit the site of Oulton someday. I remember pictures of the XKE's at Oulton. 1
Smilesperhour Posted February 12, 2023 Author Posted February 12, 2023 I decided to add the ECD 400's white around the nose and also tried with my shakey hands to add the silver bonnet trim. Again I'm now thinking masking tape should have been used but this will now be a bench mark for my next build and learning more for the bigger projects I have in mind. I may order some decals and turn it into a sort of racer as I plan to just do racers.
