Chillyb1 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 This isn't really a traditional WIP thread. It's more of a this-is-where-I-am-now-on-this-build thread. I hope you like it. The kit is Tamiya's Monte Shell F40 Competizione from twenty years ago, repackaged with superb Cartograf decals and some photoetch parts. I got a great eBay deal on it ($35 shipped to my door) and really like both the F40 and this sort of racer. I'm not a superdetailer, so I just added a few things here and there, tried to get the paint right, and then started assembly. There are carbon fiber decals in places that I think look cool, though they may or may not be CF on the real car. It isn't without its flaws, but so far I think it is looking pretty good.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Very nice job...count me in too, I purchased this kit mainly because the packaging looked so good. I mean, Tamiya, Ferrari and cartograf, not withstanding, I thought it would make a neat shelf item. You did a great job on the paint and decals...it looks great. The only thing I have done to my kit as of now is open the doors. I will have to get back to one of these days. I'm looking forward to seeing yours done.....maybe that will get me going on mine.
Corvette.Jeff Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 This car would be perfect for me! it doesnt have a brake pedal! Lokking good, iv'e always loved f40's
crispy Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 FANTASTIC Curtis! Looks better than a shelf model to me though. It appears you are doing all the right detailing tricks to bring it to life. I too look forward to seeing it completed! Chris
