Very cool John!!! I have always been a big "Ohio George" fan. I have the original Malco Mustang by MPC, and the original AMT '33 Willys. This car is correct, in that George ran this '67 bodied car on a '33 Willys chassis in both the blue Malco, and red Mr Gasket livery's, the red car ran a blown 427 Cammer, but most remembered running a twin turbo-ed 1800 horse cammer. The red '69 bodied car came later, and ran a blown cammer once again.

Beautiful model......too bad he still doesn't have the car as I live 5 minutes from his shop here in Dayton and I could get you some good reference pics. Rumor has it though that George himself destroyed the car (won't go into why).

Brad, email me off the board: Email me

Great job on one of my favorite cars of all time (right next to Rich Guasco's Pure Hell, of course)

Very well done. Good detailing all over and that paintjob is very good. One suggestion, those wheeliebars are littlebit too big ones. But anyway, very great model.

Cool model!

I think that particular resin body was made by Fremont Racing (various other casters have offered the front clip separately)

You wouldn't happen to have a photo of the '67 car in red, would you? A Google search turned up nothing on my end...

The '67 ("The Malco Gasser") was never painted red - The red car ("Mr Gasket Gasser") was a '69 bodyshell on a virtually identical chassis.

Err... I wouldn't trust those rumours - The restored '69 Was sold by RM Auctions for $ 132.000 in September last year

Thanks...that's what I thought. The Malco car never ran a Boss engine, either, as far as I know...the Mr. Gasket car started with a Cammer but moved to a Boss later in life, I believe.

That's correct - The Mr. Gasket Gasser started out with a blown 427 "Cammer", which was replaced with a Boss 429 that was initially blown (as the GMP 1:18 diecast replicates), but it didn't last long until George switched the blower for the twin-turbo setup, that made car famous.

Chris, thanks for the straightening of the rumor. I need to get back down to his shop here soon anyway, to drop off the engine for my 1991 GT Mustang. I could ask him about the cars then (he is also doing some work on my 2.3T for my 1984 GT Turbo Mustang as well).

Glad I could help!

In fact both of the Mustangs, the Willys and the "Multi Maverick" (adjustable wheelbase for either gasser or altered class cometition), his turbocharged '74 Pinto, as well as the '60 Ranchero he used as push-truck and his Ford C600-E car hauler still exist in restored condition today.

If you get the chance, you can ask him a question that's been puzzeling me for ages:

The reason for his switch to the mustang was pressure from Ford, who sponsored him, and as it's stated above the Malco Gasser Mustang's chassis was based on a pair of '33 Willys frame rails - Since the Mr. Gasket Gasser's chassis is so close to that of the Malco Gasser, and all three cars still exist I've been wondering about the frames: Did he use the original Willys' chassis to build the mustang, or did he start with a fresh set of framerails, and was that frame modified to build the Mr. Gasket, or did he build an entirely new, similar chassis for that?

I.E. Did he build an entirely new chassis (based on '33 Willys parts) for each car, or are any of the restored cars built around "cloned" frames?

Man, I wish that the local car/parts dealerships (and their owners) here in Europe were as interesting...

Edit: If you follow this link, you can see the auction pictures, descriptions, and results for both the Mr. Gasket Gasser, the Ranchero and the Ford Truck:
