lowriderphil
rivi is giving me issues so I put it to the side for now. 64 impala, going for a late 70s-ish s street cruiser. scratch built hijacker air shocks once assembled I believe the front will sit a little higher can rule the streets with out a 409, not using this exact motor but it will have bob dudek aluminum valve covers. gonna be duplicolor metallic maroon over a gold base. sounds wierd but I tried it on scrap and I like the color outcome. phil

David G.
Air Shocks! Nice touch. I had at least three cars with them. At least two of those cars needed them due to the weak rear springs that GM put on their cars in the 60's and 70's! Yes, keep an eye on the stance. In the 70's the front was seldom lowered, it was usually left at stock height or raised a bit. But with the rear, the sky was the limit! I've seen more than a few where the rear end would be lifted instead of cutting the fenders to accomodate the over-sized tires. Of course, this made the ride so stiff that you could literally be bounced off the road if you werent careful!
Guest Johnny
Back still too low front WAY too low! Tires in rear way too narrow should hang out the wells by at least 2 inches!!! (the whole reason for the HiJackers!) Believe me! I was there!
W-409
Nice project! BIG plus point from 409 I think that the frontend is just perfect, many times here in Finland on the late 70's or early 80's frontend was lowered a bit and the rearend was a bit higher than in your car. But if you are going to raise rearend, raise the frontend a bit too. But those shocks are just perfect!
lowriderphil
Loving the air shock system thank you, I plan on running lines out under the rear bumper too

I put them on my lincoln when I was doing newspapers, now that I quit them, I have cut out a full coil in the rear and I like to deflate them and lay out the rear

(the whole reason for the HiJackers!) Believe me! I was there! the front will use the stock spindles, the rear will surely be higher as I will be making new springs, the tires are g70/15 which I believe are basically a 235/75/15, I got the idea from an old pic of a 71 monte my dad had in 79, he had the same tires and the rear was up up and away. He once told me he ran an air line up under the front seat so he could hurry and lower it if he got stopped by flashing lights

I couldn't afford it. Had better places to spend the extra cash!

I'm pulling a lot of ideas from my dad, his monte had chevy rallies he robbed from his 69 z28 after planting it between two trees one new years eve. retrobuilder
Cool! this car reminds me of my '64 I had in high school. Mine had a rake like that but it had chrome reverse rims. I will be watching your build progress .My '64 had a 327 in it and an automatic. brings back lots of good memories.
lowriderphil
thinking about changing up the wheels, either gonna use these pirated from a 67 gtx kit or a better set of rallies from a 69 camaro kit
Guest Mustang3.8
Hey, Phil. I like your Lincoln. I drive a 1:1 '81 Monte Carlo, and I'd love to get a set of wire wheels for it. Your Impala looks great, too.

lowriderphil
well, per the advice of others I dug through my spare tires. building mostly lowriders I don't have too many muscle kits but heres what I found, firestone F70/15 fronts and goodyear L60/15 rears, the best I can don the rear are about 3/32" taller
