jjsipes Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I got this completed just before we had to leave to go see my wife's family on Christmad Day. This was for her grandfather. He keeps talking about the 51 that he had but, since nobody makes a 51 I built him a 53. He was so surprised that I would do this for him. He was all smiles. He loved it. Said he knows it is alot of work and he will cherish it forever. Couldn;t thank me enough. He kept showing it to everybody there. I didn't have much chance to get many pictures of it but I did get a couple.
bbowser Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 The best gifts are made, not bought. Great job!
Modlbldr Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I'm sure he will cherish it. And yes, the best gifts are made. It turned out beautiful. Later-

Thanx ..
crazyjim Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Good story. Terrific build and it's SHINY :)
Greg Pugh Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I'm glad you were able to get it done. It turned out great.
espo Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Very thoughtful of you. Your 53 vicky looks awesome. If you want to build a 51 ford, try the 49 from AMT with the 51 trim from Modelhaus or AMT's 50 ford that could be built as a convertable or a vicky hardtop. I have used the Modelhaus 50 & 51 ford Crestline tudoor kits and they have excellant detail on both.
jjsipes Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Thanks guys for the comments. Here it is about 4 days later and my wife's grandfather is still talking bout his model. He loves it and sets and looks at it each day. Guess I will have to find something else to build for him now.
Austin T Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Similar story I built a 93 Ford ranger for my buddy across the street from me who just bought a Ranger this past summer. He builds airplane kits and just went off to college. While he was visiting for the holidays I gave it to him made just like his.He went to his room and put it in a case on his desk so that he can see it everyday.Storys like this just bring a smile to my face.
