GLASS ARTS Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Hi, Do these tires look like the same size as the tires on modern TF funny cars and dragsters? They look very wide to me. Bob
ScaleDale Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 NHRA requires Goodyear tires in Top Fuel and Funny Car with a max wheel width of 16 inches. The open wheel cars mostly run the big stuff - 36 x 17 - 16 at $800 each. with all the flex in the sidewall, I’m not sure what the FC boys run under those carbon fiber skins. I’ll go look… That altered is probably running something less. Dale
GLASS ARTS Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Thanks Dale, It just looked great to me with those tires! Bob
1930fordpickup Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Robert if you have the body to build this you will see how small this body is. Just put some slicks next to it until you get the look you are after .
Force Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) Well after what I know NHRA Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car uses 36 X 17.5-16 tire code 2681, they are 36.6 inches in actual diameter, 17.3 actual thread width and are for 16 inch beadlock rim...and of course the hight grows with speed. Pro Stock uses 33.5 X 17-16 with 33.4 actual diameter, 17.4 inch actual thread width and 16 inch beadlock rims. Alcohol classes and Pro Mod use either 34.5 X 17-16 or 36 X 17-16. All this according to Good Year themselves http://www.racegoodyear.com/tires/pdf/Drag_010313.pdf Edited September 29, 2013 by Force
crowe-t Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) SMBC sells black resin slicks. Below is the description of the (scale) measurements from their website. I actually have a set of these and they look quite large. 1:25 Scale Pro-Stock Slicks Tire Set (2) (1:1) Tread Width 17", Tire Dia. 34", Rim 15-16" Edited September 29, 2013 by crowe-t
