schwack Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I wasn't sure if this was the right place. I did know this was a highly sought after kit, and the recent re-release of it was pretty big news. Mine came today! I present to you the AMT Ford LN-8000 Race Car Hauler: I am so excited to build this one! Just had to share. Thanks MCM!!
Nitro Neil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Open it up and let us smell that new plastic smell!
slusher Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 That is an awsome score. l bet those fly off the shelves...
Edsel-Dan Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I want a couple more. I built one Years ago. Petty Team set no less!!!!
Bennyg Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 This might sound like blasphemy, I plan to get one to use it as a base for my Leader LF8. It's a good doner kit as the chassis is long enough, the crossmembers are similar and the the engine is right for it. Also using parts from the Chevy Titan for the project. Would like to do one out of the box though and australianise it with right hand drive dash and squat tanks. That would be cool. Ben
jeba Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I got mine last week too. I started to glue things together but I have some questions. 1) is there a specific color to match "Cat" yellow or do I have to get a can from an outside source? 2) I assume that most of the chrome has to be stripped from the engine parts. 3) I would like to run fuel lines to the injector, how would this be done? any help in these areas would be much appreciated I'll probably have more questions later and I can't think of a better place to ask.
Jim B Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 For Cat Yellow, you can use Equipment Yellow sold at most hardware stores, although for the year of the truck & engine, Ford Dark Blue would be "more appropriate". Yes, you'll need to strip the chrome from the engine parts.
jeba Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 thanks for the quick reply--------now back to the glueing
Eshaver Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 There is an Oil tank that for some odd reason that was omitted on that engine . Go look at a Ford repair manual , it's there ...............
kilrathy10 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) I like this kit, but not as much as that KW Papa truck.....That's the one I want to see.....Glad you got one, though....I just got through trading one off....I forget which one it was....Oh, well....Good score....And, yeah, Man....Open it up!!!! Edited October 29, 2013 by kilrathy10
Rob Hall Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Pics of the box contents? I assume except for the race car hauler bed it's probably the same as other AMT Louisville truck kits?
gtx6970 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Just got the email this morning. And plan to put one on order tonight . I have to assume it's just a straight re-issue of the mosty recent incarnation of the kit. No car included .
Austin T Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 We got one in on the shelf yesterday, tempted to snag one.
tim boyd Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 While I don't have the 1972 first issue kit to compare it to, I got the new kit last week from one of on-line vendors, and it appears to be a straight reissue of that initial kit version, including the decals. As with the original issue, there is no car on the transporter. Looks really good - I recently completed a kitbash of another truck using this transporter body. Another Model Cars Forum member posted a similar conversion in the Truck section of this forum a few months back and did a great job with it. TIM
ZIL 111V Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Another great reisssue long time no see for this one (1986)... As mention, Original AMT's 1970, very 1st edition; boxart/decals/ truck kit (truck only: no '70 Mustang FC included just like the 1st edition). Hope to see (one day) the reissues of 1972 Pinto FC combo & later Mustang II combo Great work Round2
slusher Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 l hope we keep seeing trucks released by Round2. They have suprised me with what they have done in the last couple years....
gtx6970 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Now, If we can just get a Dodge cab / body to fit the chassis and bed I would be in heaven
High octane Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I'd really like to get one of those kits, but I'm afraid that if I did it would just go on the "pile" with ALL the other kits I have that I hope to build "someday."
