Terminator-Fox Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) I'm currently building one of my favorite foxes a Teal on Black interior 93 Cobra. I'm kind of having a tough time finding an over counter spray paint paint option for a match on this teal. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not airbrushing at this time. my80malibu Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Scalefinishes would most likely have that color
Mooneyzs Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Steve... you can go to an auto body paint supply store they can mix the exact color you want. If you don't have the paint code you should be able to tell them its a 93 Ford Cobra color and they should have the color code in their paint books. They can mix it up as a single stage paint and put it into an aersol can for you. I used to work at an auto body paint supply store many years ago and I can't tell you how many cans I used to pump paint into. Depending on the brand of paint it may cost you any where from 10 to 15 bucks a spray can I am guessing.
Terminator-Fox Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) I found this. Would this work alright on plastic you think? Cheapest I've found yet... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-M6630A-or-RD-Touch-Up-Spray-Paint-Teal-Metallic-/171146342015?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27d91dee7f&vxp=mtr Edited November 3, 2013 by Terminator-Fox
64SS350 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 As I've been told, also remember to use automotive primer before using automotive paint, or you could end up with a melted Mustang!
MonoPed Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Use a white primer under it. I used a Duplicolor touchup called Bright Aqua Metallic (GM color) on mine, but that was several years ago, don't know if it's still available or not. ..

Follow the auto primer (Duplicolor) and you'll need a clearcoat over the top, too.
my80malibu Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 here is another site that has small quantities. http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index-nd.htm

Kind of off topic but since you posted your car, did you have to modify anything to get that stance? I have two of these kits and have mocked up one with the suspension and body and the wheel gaps are awful. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
MonoPed Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks! Yeah, I modified it. I used shorter springs in the rear, and sanded/filed between the K member and subframe to get the nose down.

What are your suggestions on a primer and clear I should get?
