David Thibodeau Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Finished this up over the last few days.... Really nice kit with very little fit issues and nice detail out of the box. Only modification is adjusting the ride height.. Chassis pics before body final fitment:
David Thibodeau Posted December 24, 2007 Author Posted December 24, 2007 And here is the completed car......
MarkJ Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Excellent build Dave!! The detail is Awesome!!
MoparMarc Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Hang on...............trying to pick my jaw up off of the floor..................ok thats better. Awesome job, the detail and finish are great!!!!!
RatRod Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Very stunning work David!!! I have one of these kits after MPC made it into a street machine, still has all the Nascar stuff except the wheels & tires.
Ranchwagon Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 That's great, Dave! Do you have a photo of the car with a 1/25 car for comparison?
lizardlust Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Simply STUNNING craftsmanship, Dave!! One of these days I need to begin redoing the remnants of my childhood prize - I can only hope it will come out a fraction as nice as your build did!!!
Raul_Perez Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Now that is what I call EXCELLENT craftsmanship!! That build is certainly worthy of a Best of Show award where ever you put it on display!!! There is no modeler that I know of who wouldn't be proud to have that excellent display of workmanship in their collection!! Thanks for sharing!! Keep up the good work and the posts!!
Frank Steffens Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I read in the WIP thread that you built this for a customer. That is one LUCKY customer! Absolutely amazing Dave!
Spike Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 VERY NICE DETAIL!!!! one question, does the headrest read "RIP" ?
David Thibodeau Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 VERY NICE DETAIL!!!! one question, does the headrest read "RIP" ? No, it reads RLP... Petty's initials... Thanks alot everyone, its getting shipped to its owner on Wed........ overnight shipping on him of course, but thats less time in the mail.... good idea!! Dave T
Ron Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I missed this post Dave..I was wondering how it was coming along. Great build....I really wish I could build this clean. I hope the shipping goes well....I hope Ace Ventura doesnt get it! Ron
darquewanderer Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Wow!!! Beautiful job on the Charger. Absolutley love it. Your attention to details is fantastic. Makes me wish Dave B would bring it back out as a Model King release.
3men2s Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 UNIQUE, LOVE IT, IT IS MY FAVORITE PETTY RIDES OF ALL TIMES. BEHIND IS THE DAYTONA.
catpack68 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 stunning work dave.the detailing and paint work look perfect.i wish model king would do the 1/16 or 1/25 scale petty chargers.i think either one would be good sellers
darquewanderer Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 It's been three years since this thread has been in the spotlight... well with the soon to be reissued 1/16 Dodge Charger, I thought it deserved being brought back to the forefront so we can once again admire and drool over Dave's outstanding work.
W-409 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 ... well with the soon to be reissued 1/16 Dodge Charger... Wow, I must get that kit asap when it comes! But nice build, very nice. It looks really like 1:1 car, paintjob is amazing, and decals are nice. Engine detailing is very great, that carburetor is just like it is in a "larger scale". Nice work on it, as a NASCAR fan, I'd like to see more of these older NASCARs, those new ones are not bad, but these are better...
Plasticfanatic Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 TRULY BEAUTIFUL AND SUPERB BUILD!!!!!!!!! I have this same kit built(not even close as your superb one)and must say that MPC did get this Mopar model car right in all angles and excelent detail,is still one of my favorites, is display with a nice autograph picture card of 1992 fan appreciation tour/last race season of the King Richard Petty. This 1/16 kit offering is a great model all around if one can overlook a little the trasparent body wich tend to be a little fragile than standard colored plastic. Again, superb model and craftmanship in it's build.....long live the King!!!!!!!!!
Drgon63 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 that thing is beautiful... wow.. now i may have to build the one in my closet....nice nice nice...
