GMP440
Does anyone know where to get Ambroid Pro Weld? None of the hobby shops here carry it.
Harry P. my80malibu
Where do you live? I posted a topic a few months back asking how others had gotten their model supplies. In far away locations most said they have a hobby shop nearby. 935k3
There is something going on with this company. No of my 3 local shops that carry it can get it anymore. I highly doubt the links posted above have it in stock. A good alternative is Plastruct Bondene Edited June 6, 2014 by 935k3
cmfowler
According to my LHS the company only produces it a couple times a year with it currently being out of production.
JohnU
Thought I read somewhere on this forum someone using MEK (methel Ethel keytone) as a substitute. Suppose to be the same thing and 10x cheaper available in hardware stores.
george 53
Model Cave, In Ypsilanti(?) Mich, has it. I just got 4 bottles from John. He has it in stock. PLUS itsa GREAT shop to visit.
Kit Basher
You're right, it can be hard to get. My LHS had Ambroid, then Tenax, then Bondene, and now Ambroid again. FWIW, Ambroid is not the same as MEK. It is methylene chloride, and IMO is stronger and faster than MEK. I agree with Dale that Bondene is a good alternative. Brett Barrow
Ambroid hasn't been in distribution for a while. Flex-I-file makes an alternative that's supposed to be the same stuff.
crazyjim
I haven't used it, but I'm told MEK is REALLY nasty stuff and must be used in a well ventilated area. Hey George53 - how you been? I waved to you when we flew into Detroit last month. Edited June 6, 2014 by crazyjim
