taaron76 Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Thanks guys! So far I am a big fan of BMF, I just need to buy some new blades. BMF makes a huge difference!!! Tim
taaron76 Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) I love Chevells so much. But there's not enough of them being posted. Yours is lookin really good Tim. I wish Revell would make a 1/12 th scale 68' SS 3 in 1 kit, I would go broke building them and remove all hope of me ever owning a 1:1 ever. Ha Ha. It's funny you say that because I have actually been looking at purchasing one in the near future. Building one won't help me fight the urge though! lol Tim Edited November 20, 2014 by taaron76
taaron76 Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Finally finished the Chevelle... Changed the wheels out, seemed to look better than the other ones. A few issues with the stance, but not too bad. This was my first attempt at BMF, so the next one will come out much better. Turned out to be a pretty good build. I'll take some more pics tomorrow with some natural sunlight. Thanks! Tim
mustang1989 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Man Tim that finish looks awesome! How in the hell did you get such an amazing gloss finish using MM acrylic gloss? I have YET to have mine get any where NEAR that shiny and understand there's a common problem with that. HInts and suggestions would be welcomed. Again, awesome job on this build! She sure is purdy!

Hi Joe! You are from my home town of Corpus Christi! As far as the gloss, I just put 3-4 really good coats of clear on it, wet sanded and polished it out. Hopefully the pics tomorrow in the sun will help some of that silver below the clear red come out. Silver-clear red-clear coat was all I did. I use a 4 inch buffing wheel on the spindle of a Dremmel. The buffing wheel only get so much pressure before it won't spin any more so it doesn't burn the clear. Prior to that, I just wet sanded flat, then polished with Novus #2. Thanks for the compliments! Tim
mustang1989 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Thanks Tim! I appreciate the help. I just recently found out about Novus so I'll be checking more into that. As far as Corpus goes, this place changes more and more every day. This place is literally blowing up on Rodd Field Rd. New businesses and buildings going up everywhere between SPID and Yorktown!
tbill Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Tim, nice job. that's a real clean looking build, and the color is fabulous.

I haven't lived there in almost 20 years since I joined the Air Force in 1995. I was there in July when my Dad passed away, but we try to get back at least once a year or so. That was the first time I had used Novus. I hadn't built a model in about 15 years and the #44 LaBonte build was the first one that I used base coat, clear coat on, but didn't use Novus to polish. I tried an aluminum polish and it worked out really good. Trial and error I suppose, but the more I test and learn, the better the product. Tim
