w451973 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I've done a search and haven't found much of anything here so I was wondering does anyone make a resin/aftermarket GM Futureliner ?
1930fordpickup Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Not in 1/25 scale yet. They sell a 1/32 or 1/48 scale die cast when they show the truck. I sat in one last summer. Man is that thing up in the air.
w451973 Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 I saw one up close at an Oldsmobile homecoming show a while back and fell in love. I can't explain it. I just love those things. Reminds me of the big beautiful trains from the 40's. Thanks for the tip.
Casey Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 The is the closest we may ever come: http://www.joeld.net/futurliner/futurliner.html
cobraman Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 That would be a lot of plastic in 1/25 scale!

randx0 Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I think someone else was working on one here recently , they were going to render it in 3d printing then cast in resin but it sounded very cost prohibitive .

Yes it was last spring/early summer when he was posting stuff. He said it was not going to be worth it.to do n resin. The cost is just how bad do you want it type of a thing.
1930fordpickup Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) Dennis I do believe this is who has the Futureliner that was at the Oldsmobile show. http://natmus.org/ They are next to the ACD museum so check out the hours of each and make a day trip. With fresh batteries in the camera. Edited November 20, 2014 by 1930fordpickup
Mopar Mike Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Dennis, I'm pretty sure Bitchin Rides restored one on their show. Saw it at SEMA and was in total awe of their work. The name of Dave's shop is Kindig It Kustoms in Utah. I took a couple of pictures of it I'll try to post them later. Mike Mopar To Ya
Chuck Most Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Sort of off-topic regarding availability of a Futureliner in scale, but I stumbled across this a few minutes ago, so I guess I'll just put it here... http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/11/19/futurliner-no-10-to-go-on-national-historic-vehicle-register-finds-permanent-home/
randx0 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 PBS has a show called "Mystery Cars" which also highlighted these trucks
Jim B Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The Futureliner is pretty cool in an Art-Deco sort of way. I wonder how they were to drive.
Force Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Here are a couple of photos I took of the Futureliner at the SEMA Show a couple of weeks ago.

I like that show. Not so drama-tized and scripted like most of the others. And the leader/boss isn't an arrogent %$#&.
