signmike Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 This is my first completion for 2015, I though a classic would be a new breath for me so i built this Monogram 1/24 Cadillac. This kit is well made for the subject but lacks some positive positionning tabs and hole. It makes it difficult to assemble cleanly. Specially yhe chrome equipment like windshield, luggage rack and all these little handles...LOL But in the end it make a great shelf model that is sure to bring attention... Quote
robertw Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I have one of those about to hit the build bench next month. Thanks for the tips on the niggling little build problems, I'll watch out for them and PS, I like your build. Current plans are to do mine in silver/black with a red interior. rob Quote
gtx6970 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 VERY nice, I like this one a lot . I really like the color combo . I have one of these to do later on and was thinking either silver with black or maybe red fenders . Quote
unclescott58 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I like the model, but that body style is not a cabriolet. That is a dual cowl phaeton. Technically, cabriolets have two-door doors and roll up windows. That fact aside, it is a very nicely done model. Scott Quote
Phildaupho Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 It is always great to see a model of a classic. I have a few I want to build someday. Do you have any photos of the V16? Quote
signmike Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 I like the model, but that body style is not a cabriolet. That is a dual cowl phaeton. Technically, cabriolets have two-door doors and roll up windows. That fact aside, it is a very nicely done model. You're totally right, it is even written on the box. I just saw on Google search a similar titled cabriolet and I just did'nt pay attention...Thanks for mentioning... My first idea was to paint the body a very dark red with the titanium fenders but could not find the right colour in quality paint (Testors red is terrible to spray and Tamiya was too light) so I painted it Tamiya Silver Leaf instead... Thank you for the nice comments... The engine is fairly detailed but since it was not to my taste I decided to build it box stock with no detailing. Quote
bbowser Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Great job! I've got one of these in the stash, hope it comes out half as nice. Love seeing the classics getting some attention. Quote
Harry P. Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 What a beauty! Looks very classy in silver. Quote
Eric Macleod Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Great looking Phaeton! Some may say you should add wiring to the engine but ignition wires were concealed under the cover over the valley between the banks of cylinders. This is a well done model with a truly spectacular paint job. Well done! Eric Quote
Ramfins59 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 That is a great looking car Michel. Quote
philo426 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Cool!I turned mine into a tow truck! Quote
landman Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 They used to do that with old powerful cars. I've read many articles about some big classic being pressed into tow truck service and the guy restoring it had to rebody it and/or use a different body style. Mine is sort of like the box cover. signmike Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 A tow truck? great idea... Thanks to all for the comments , it is encouraging... Quote
