Thanks again everyone for the comments. Jamie, my paint process is fairly simple. Once I get the body sanded the way I want I use a piece of tack cloth & wipe everything down. Next I spray automotive lacquer primer in sever thin layers. Next I gently sand with 400 grit if I think the primer is too rough. Then I spray three coats of base coat or more if there's not full coverage. Then I spray a first coat of House of Kolor clear in a light coating & wait till it tacks up. Then I spray a full wet second coat of clear. Most times thats enough but sometimes I need a third coat. Once the clear dries I usually polish the hood, trunk & top with a micro mesh polishing kit & give it a final rub out on the entire body with Turtle scratch & swirel remover. Thats about it.

Thanks for the great comments guys! I feel this is one of my best paint jobs so far. At least my favorite color.

Believe me Harry, I'm always looking for ways to improve my building skills. I don't know why I never even thought of taking off the pins & filling the holes. I do use white glue to install all my glass so I'm covered there. Keep up the criticism, I look forward to it

Thanks guys!! The amazing thing about this paint is it's just plain old Testors rattle can gloss black & I didn't even polish it.

Thank you for all the great comments! I too love the Chevys of the 60's, if you couldn't tell

I know huh! Too bad Art Anderson of All American Models decided to retire...he cast some beautiful cars. I miss buying from him.

Another great tip! I'm learning things that I never would have thought of & I've only been on here a week. Love the comments & please give suggestions whenever you see places for improvement!

THanks for the comments guys. I thought I'd show you a photo of the real car that I was building the replica of. I'm not a fan of the big wheels either, but they are exactly what is on the real car.

I built this AMT 57 Bel Air about 20 years ago as a replica of the car my Dad had when I was about 5 years old. I can still hear him tuning the dual 4-bbl carbs in the garage way back then. Paint was Tuxedo black with black & silver interior. He lowered it 4 inches & had wide whitewalls & 57 Plymouth styled custom hubcaps. The car had the factory 283 with dual 4's. He took the triangular shaped dual oil bath air cleaner off & threw it away...if only he had known those things would be selling for thousands of $$$ today. Of course if he had also known that car itself would be worth a good $75,000 or more today I bet he wouldn't have traded it in for a cheapy station wagon. Hind sight is 20/20.

This one I built about 15 years ago. Another one of Art Anderson's beautiful resin trans-kits. Hope you enjoy.

This kit started life as an AMT hardtop & I converted it to a drop top. I added a resin boot, wire wheels, shaved the emblems & door handles and added some custom touches. Hope you enjoy.

This is an original AMT 66 Impala SS convertible that I got on Ebay. The kit was unbuilt in an open box. I painted it HOK Kandy Brandywine with a white interior. A set of Corvette Rallys & Radial T/A tires from a vette kit.
-
Here's a 63 Galaxie convertible that I bought on Ebay for restoration. The paint was in great shape & just needed a good polishing. I repainted the interior & foiled all the chrome. Custom wheels & tires from the parts box. Hope you enjoy.

This kit went together really nice. I painted it in a 1961 Olds Twilight Mist & added Pegasus wheels & tires.

This was a fun build that I did for a friend that has a 1:1 63 Bel Air just like this. The body is from MCW Resins & it's painted in a Honda Tahitian Green. Wheels & tires are from Pegasus. I used the Revell 63 Impala kit for a parts donor. This resin was actually a Biscayne so I had to remove the upper side trim & add the trim pieces around the tail light cove. Hope you enjoy.

This is a resin kit that I built last year from R&R Resin. I used the 67 Impala kit from AMT for a donor. The side & tailgate windows are made from thin acetate. The paint is Cadillac medium Rosewood with dark Rosewood on the rocker panels. I would have liked the stance to be a bit lower but the resin wasn't cooperating for that. So it is standing tall & proud. Hope you enjoy.

This started out as an easy build that I like to do occasionally just to keep me from burning out...but I spent as much time on it as any other model. This is a Polar Lights pre-painted 65 Coronet 500 convertible. I loved the color but it was pretty dull out of the box. I clear coated it with HOK clear coat & foiled all the trim that they had pad printed with silver & it really came to life. I detail painted the interior in tan & turquoise & did some detail on the chassis & found some old red stripe tires & Mopar Rally wheels in the parts box. Hope you enjoy.

I built this Revell 1963 Impala SS as a replica to the 1:1 Impala that my Grandpa had when I was in my teens. It's painted with factory correct Laurel Green Poly & black interior. Hope you enjoy.

Here are some more photos of the 63 Vette Roadster that I finished in 2012. This is the AMT Prestige version & I painted it with GM Lemans blue paint. Basically box stock. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks again for all the great comments, I really appreciate it. Dante, this is a MPC original annual kit from 69. To my knowledge it hasn't been reissued & the moulds were probably destroyed when they retooled for the 1970 models. I got this one about a year ago on Ebay. I have seen one or two on there since then.

Thanks for the great comments! I will post some more of my older builds for you to check out. I'm glad you like my work, I've always loved building models & I'm very happy to see a lot of young guys are getting into it. It means the hobby will survive after all us baby boomers are gone. -
Thanks guys, I appreciate all the nice comments. I will be posting more photos of these builds so you can see some other angles.

Dan, actually the back up lamps were standard on the Impalas starting in 1958. I like the look of triple tail lights so I made the center lens red as well.
-
Here is another restoration that I got from Ebay. I stripped the paint & re-sprayed with HOK Cocoa Pearl. I love those tail lights!!

Thanks for the nice comments guys! I appreciate it. this was actually the first build that I used House Of Kolor paints on & after I did I was hooked!
