  1. Perfect Tim, EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks.
  2. Does anyone know what bbc's were available on White Road Bosses? Want to shorten the nose on one, but I want something in between the kit and the 90". I dont want to just wing it, want something they were actually made in. What are my options?
  3. VERY nice. The U series Autocar is one of my all time favorites. Did you have any scale drawings to work from, or just wing it? I would like to do one of these myself. Can you send me the finished photos in a larger format?
  4. Im such a clod sometimes. not a bad idea
  5. I found the thing about having to post your last name. Sorry, wont be sticking around. We have a guy on this board who is best buddies with someone who is well-known for being less than reputable. I post my last name on here, how hard is it for him (I wont even mention his name) to dig up my address on an internet people-finder, next thing you-know-who has a credit card in my name. Wouldn't he just LOVE that.
  6. Honestly, I am not a big fan the whole big wheel thing, but THAT IS STUNNING! Now, just throw some redlines & torque thrusts on it...<g> All kidding aside, that is VERY impressive. Nice work
  7. I dont think its enamel. I think its a shellac. Smell it. Doesnt look like anyone on here has tried it. I will give it a shot on something when I have time.
  8. I make it a habit to give every body I paint a quick wipe with isopropol alcohol a few minutes before I paint. It evaporates very quickly.
  9. I have heard on another board that testors Glosscoat (the old-fashioned stuff that turns yellow) will work as a sealer to prevent laquer from etching plastic. Anyone tried this? Not interested in theory, please only respond if you have actually TRIED it.
  10. I had a Competition Resins '66 Comet FC body get REAL twisty in the box, pulled it out, straightened it out with hot water.
  11. By the way, The GTX in the background looks a LOT like the one I am building.
  12. LOVE the rear wheels/tires. There is a nice pic of it before Roth bought it in Andy Southards book, Hot rods of the fifties. GREAT book, by the way.
  13. I have one of these, slowly doing it as a stock home-market '53 T-100C
  14. Its originally a Heller tool, AMT issued it as a two-in-one with the Ferrari P-3, I bought the two-in-one as built-ups from Fred Sterns. Always coveted the Porche kit, as I saw one in a hooby shop many years ago, never saw it since. Its not really that great a kit, its a little underscale, & the shape is off a bit, but it was really fun building it.Till now. ROFL. If you REALLY want to do this car, the Fisher kit is WAY better. But its OOP too.
  15. For a year (off & on) I have been re-building this from an old glue bomb AMT kit. Almost done. Decided to polish some of the scratches out of the windshield, and... OUCH! Never even felt it crack. I think the first thing I will try is Milli-put on the inside of the windshield, let it set, then vacu-form over it.
  16. For those who are interested, Thuene just bought the body in question for the reserve price of $1000.
  17. I'm gonna chime in here. First off. I can state for a fact that Alan paid for the body in question. When he recieved the bodies in question, he brought them over for me to look at. Having seen the Comet in person, I can tell you the pics on ebay do NOT do it justice. It is MUCH worse in person. The irony is, I suggested the only thing you could do with it would be to convert it to Chrismans roadster, & posted that AS A JOKE on the Straightlinemodelers board, so thats how that little myth came into being. Honestly even if you cut the roof off, the body is too rough to use. By the way, Alan & I BOTH cast ourselves (not professionally) & have both mastered stuff. He was approached by Thuene via email about replacing the the body after he posted a pic of it on Straightlinemodeler. Thuene offered to replace the bodies in question. After a couple weeks, nothing had shown up, so Alan contacted Thuene. At this point , Thuene told Alan to go **** himself. That was when the decision to put the ad up was made. Alan still has the emails in question.
