Post your oldest model picture
Yenkocamaro replied to Scott Colmer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is great! Here is a 1/25 model Merc that I modified, (mid 80's I think) but never finished. Please forgive the quality of the photo, as it is a picture of a picture. I have also had my models appear in Scale Auto, many moons ago. I'll gather the articles if anyone is interested. Cheers, Lance -
Second Annual Mini Cruise - Colorado
Yenkocamaro replied to Yenkocamaro's topic in Contests and Shows
Hey Guys, just a reminder, that this show is this Saturday 6/13/2015. Cheers, Lance -
Metallics can be very hard to match if parts of the car are painted separately. JMO, but the only way to solve that problem, is to repaint the car with all the parts that are going to be painted the same color(hood-trunk lid, doors etc) attached to the model. Even solid colors can sometimes not match if parts are painted separately. Cheers, Lance

Nice work, David! I love customs, and have been trying to figure out a full skirt on Ertl's 1/18 51 Mercury. It has the small skirts that fit close to the wheelwell, but I like the full custom skirts you usually see on (49-51) Mercs. I'm thinking of layering plastic sheet, and then forming the curves by filing and sanding. Your Vicky is 1/18 scale? Cheers, Lance

I just checked it out, nice job on the 55. What saw blade are you using in your keyhole saw? I have a Diamond embedded rope style blade, but its too fat. Takes forever to cut through. Cheers, Lance

Thanks Tom, you must be thinking of someone else, still here in Littleton, Colorado. You might remember me from the Diecast Pub 2. I was wondering where you disappeared to, nice to see you here. I hear you, I wish someone would make a 65 Chevelle 2 door wagon, in 1/18, lots of options for releases of a 65, but unfortunately, the hobby has taken a different direction, and I highly doubt we will ever see a wagon we want. Cheers, Lance

Hey Guys, not that I don't have enough projects going, I started another. I've always loved the style of the Nomad roof, and have tried through the years to transfer this roof design to other cars, but most will not fit without major body work. This is an Ertl 1/18 56 Ford Sunliner with a Road Tuff 1/18 57 Nomad roof. I've picked out my wheel/tire set and a Lane 1/18 Shelby Cobra Engine for motion, which may or may not be used, still thinking about it. Cheers, Lance

Hey Guys, just a reminder, that the Rocky Mountain Hobby & Collectibles show is this Sunday, Jan 11 10am - 2pm. Cheers, Lance -
If you don't already own one, may I suggest buying a Caliper. Its capable of measuring outside, inside, and depth. Perfect tool for exactly what you are working on. You can measure to see if that roof will fit or not, and allow you to determine how much you will have to add or take off to make it work. I have had mine for 30+ years, and is one of my most valuable tools. Mine is a dial version, while the new ones are digital, and run about $30.00. Good luck with your project. Lance Cheers.

I called the Lakewood store, and spoke to the salesman I usually deal with, and he confirmed that there was a model car contest at the Aurora store, but it was more like 2 1/2 months ago, not a month ago, sorry. He also said that its not a contest that's held every year, so who knows when they will have another. I have no idea how successful the contest was, or how many entries they had. Cheers, Lance -

Sorry, but this tidbit of info just popped into my head. I was at the Colpar Hobby shop about 3 weeks to a month ago, and overheard a conversation(I think there was even a flyer)about a model car contest coming up. Not sure if it was sponsored by Colpar, Someone can call and find out. I thought I would mention this, as its another opportunity to maybe recruit members for the club. Cheers, Lance -

Hey Guys, I just remembered Colpar Hobbies. They have a ton of model kits and supplies, they also have Evergreen plastic shapes. There are 2 locations, but the one I go to is 3355 S. Wadsworth Blvd Lakewood, Co.80227 303-988-5157. The other location is around 285(Hampden) and Havana. I'm just blown away on how much Kits, and supplies are nowadays. I remember, as a kid, kits were $1.49, and spray paint was like 49-69 cents. I think 3 in one kits were $2.00(bigger box) along with Styline kits....memories My very first model was an AMT 34 Ford pickup. Cheers, Lance -

Thanks Doug. Unfortunately, I am no longer a plastic car modeler, but a 1/18 diecast collector and Modder. A car nUt, just the same Hey, I figured there are plenty of modelers that come to the show, so it might be a great start to recruit some members for a new club. I belonged to a model car club back in the seventys and eightys in Chicago, and it was the greatest. I sure do miss that Cheers Lance -

Hey Guys, I'm in Littleton Colorado, and attend a monthly show called Rocky Mountain Hobby & Collectible show. While its mainly diecast, there is a vendor there with 3 tables full of plastic model kits old and new, and a lot of loose parts, decals, etc. There are a few other vendors there that also sell model kits as well. Rocky Mountain Hobby & Collectibles shows El Jebel Shrine center 4625 W. 50th Ave. Denver, Co. Shows are held on Sundays 10am-2pm Info: Roger Mendenhall - 719-495-0678 Next show is January 11 no show in February March 15 April 12 May 17 June- no show Cheers Lance -
Excellent work! Since you are talking 1/18 scale, American Diorama just recently released a 2-figure pack of Policemen in a sitting position. There were also a few other figures made by the same company in a sitting position, but they are not looking straight ahead. Check it out, and see if they might suit your needs. They will require significant modding, but I think they would be a great starting point. Cheers Lance

I actually like the wall and floor the way they are. It gives your dio character, and an older building look. Props. Cheers Lance Happy Holidays!
