‘29 Model A Pickup

Thanks for the positive feedback. -
I originally built this in 1975 when I was 18. Over the years it deteriorated, parts fell off and the paint on the cab flaked off. It’s been in a box for at least 30 years now and I decided it was time to restore it and get it back into the display case. The wheels, tires, chassis, and engine are still the way I originally built it. Wheels and tires are AMT, chrome reverse from the ‘34 Ford pickup issued in the’70’s. And the tires and hubcaps are from the mid ‘70’s issue of the ’37 Chev Coupe. I stripped the body, bed, and fenders then primed them with Testors #1237. I painted everything silver with Testors #1246 like before. The fenders are finished like they were before with Testors #1631 Purple Metal Flake over silver. The cab and bed are cleared with Pledge Revive, they were not clearcoated before. The upholstery and roof are brush painted using Testors #1172 bottle enamel like I had done before.

I love tall T's. It has a '70's vibe going on with the super wide wheels and tires sticking out past the fenders.

Very interested in seeing this finished. I have just a resin body and hood to start with so I am following this to get ideas for the frame and interior. Probably going to go with the Plymouth flathead.

Great looking model. Is that a scratchbuilt grille and taillights?

Thanks for the positive feedback.

This is the stock version of the AMT kit #8215. Krylon and Testor paints with decals from the AMT Willys gasser pickup.

Thanks, for the positive feedback. Keep on modelling.

I wanted to do something a bit different with the AMT ’39/‘40 Tudor Sedan. I filled the side windows using card stock and filled the trunk seam below the rear window. I lined up the new seam for the rear hatch even with the ends of the side drip rails. I then cut the hatch open following the original trunk separation lines and added a homemade hinge. Krylon and Testors paints with decals left over from the Coca-Cola Willy’s gasser pickup finish it off.

This is my favorite Show Rod. I had a first issue when I was 12 in 1969 (long gone) and 2 of the orange plastic kits now (unbuilt). I have never seen it in person but hope to one day. I like the richness of the color on the Pale Brass spoon.
