I haven't really been at the bench since Labor Day until this weekend, when I managed to find a little time. Photoetched window cranks and pedals. Arm rests are GM A-body units that I resin cast. Steering column is scratchbuilt with a resin wheel cast from the custom unit in an AMT '66 Mustang Resto Rod kit. Here's a close up of the instrument panel. I painted the wheel to match the seats. Tonight, I begin painting the engine so hopefully I can continue what I've started and finish this sucker. Enjoy!!! Marc @ MPC Motorsports

I use Kikkoman Soy Sauce bottles for paint stands. You can buy them at a Walmart Supercenter in the ethnic food section for less than $2.00 per bottle. I have about 10 of them that I have acquired over the years for this purpose. They stand about 5.5 inches tall with a base of 2.5 inches. I use masking tape to attach bodies or other parts for painting. If you are painting several small parts the same color, you can put globs of Fun Tack on the bottle top and attach parts with pieces of wire. Or, masking tape and toothpicks. I like these bottles because they are short with a sturdy wide base, they fit good in your hand, and they are easy to rotate while painting. Give 'em a try!!!

It is the "classic" tooling, Joe.

Drago, No pics yet as the kit is not out yet. It is a modified reissue of their beautiful 1965 Impala. Marc

Two thumbs up!!! Gotta love them Camaros. Got any pics of your older Camaros, perhaps a link? What color did you paint this one? Marc

This stuff is supposedly discountinued in the US due to an EPA issue similar to what happened to Tamiya TS spray paints a few years back. I've heard it is a labeling issue more than anything. It remains to be seen if Tamiya sells it here again. Meanwhile, you can source it from www.HLJ.com or from this Ebay store icanucan Kenncer online Ebay store. They have a single tube available in the store but you can get three tubes shipped to your door in the USA for $15. I've ordered from them before with no problems. Three tubes could be a lifetime supply for some folks. Marc

Your Very First Real Car
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Sister recently discovered this picture of my first car. The picture was taken December 25, 1975. I was four months from getting my driver's license. The Chevelle was owned by a neighbor and featured a new paint job and a rebuilt 325 horse 396. It was a base model SS with manual steering, Muncie 3 speed stick and a bench seat interior. It was a fun first car but we got rid of it in the summer of 1976 after the bondo-filled quarter panel that the fresh paint covered began to crack. The kid that bought it from us totaled it two months later. Like most everyone else, I sure wish I owned this car today. Marc -
After nearly a month, I'm getting a little bit of quality bench time this weekend. Got the interior of the Cyclone painted and flocked. Paint is Tamiya TS-67 IJN Gray and Testors Fabric Gray lacquer. Brushed metal door panel inserts are painted Tamiya AS-12 Bare Metal Silver. Flocking is from Ken's Fuzzi Fur. The front seats are from Reliable Resin and the rear bench is from an AMT '69 Torino Cobra as the Cyclone builder did not come with a back seat. Still to come are photo etch window cranks, resin arm rests and photo etch pedals. Enjoy!!! Marc @ MPC Motorsports

70 Coronet "Pitchfork" hood
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to dencon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Don't worry, Gramps!!! I have a Modelhaus hood and it is a little tight too. Nothing that a few swipes with an emory board can't fix. Marc -
The "brown truck" delivered this one to my office this morning. It is my Ebay bargain of the week...$10.50 + shipping. Body never painted, lightly glued and ready to roll. Giant AMT drag slicks in the rear and MPC stock car tires on the front. Based upon the slicks, I'd say this was built in the early 1970s. The hood is from an AMT 1967 Camaro annual but it fits. It's missing a taillight but Modelhaus has replacements. Rear taillight panel was brush painted flat black as was the interior. BTW, the interior is from an AMT Camaro or Firebird of the same vintage as it does not have a molded in console like the MPC annuals. I've lost track but I think this one makes MPC '68 Camaro annual number six or seven in my collection. One of these must be one of my first new projects in a few months. Enjoy!!! Fujimi's 20" BBS aren't LM's. They are just called BBS. Here's some comparison pics with the new Aoshimas. Fujimi's are on the right. They are one piece, chrome plated and much larger than the Aoshima rims. They are a great size for the new AMT Dodge Challenger and similar modern kits, as well as 1:24 scale muscle cars. I have a set earmarked for my Johan '72 Torino. Marc

Don't know, don't care. Just glad to have these and if you ask Crispy about my own personal "Tire Rack", I've got tires to fix the problem. If necessary, I have enough extra Aoshoma tires that I could cut two tires apart and make one wide one. But the Pegasus are just the ticket and if I choose to go big and little with 18" LM's, I can use Pegasus 19" tires on the front for a matching set.

Beautiful!!! Love the paint work. What brand/color paint did you use?

DMCC (Dearborn) Meeting pics
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to PatRedmond's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Thanks for the pics!!! God, I love my new cable internet. Fotki pics come up in a flash. -
Waiting for me on the front porch today was my pre-order from Hobby World Japan of SIX sets of Aoshima's new 20" BBS LM wheel and tire sets. These babies are pure sex!!! Beautiful satin chrome finish with deeper rims for the rear wheels. Separate rims allow easy painting of the spokes. Unfortunately, Aoshima did not include the wider rear tires that came in the last series of 20" sets. If you keep the supplied tires for the rears, you will have to trim the back of the rims flush with the tires. But there is a ready aftermarket solution. The OD of these wheels is fractionally larger than Pegasus 23" wheels, so Pegasus 23" tires fit like a champ and are wide enough to fill the rim width. One more thing...the design of the spoked section of these wheels are identical to Aoshima's vintage 18" BBS LM wheels, only larger. I just happen to have a few sets of the 18" LM's in my collection. Can you say..."big and littles"? Enjoy!!!
