All American Models?
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Ayatollah's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've been wondering if the '80 Malibu wagon is a copy of Perry's. Perry's wagon is a little thick on the inside too, as is the interior tub. -
1972 J. Flintstone El Camino
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Alienwordz's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Billy, It's more correct than you think. While it is a Chevelle front clip, the Chevelle fender lines were smoothed to match the '72 Elky. If you get the "complete" JF Elky kit, it comes with the end cap in question. I recently acquired one and it is on my bench. I'm using a '72 Chevelle front bumper and grille and while I got a Modelhaus '69 Elky rear bumper, it is too wide to fit. The JF Elky suffers from a little bit of shrinkage, so I'm a little torn on whether to use that or the JF rear and Alclad. My kit also came with photoetched El Camino SS emblems and such...BONUS!!! The complete kit has the body, end cap for the cab, interior tub, front and rear bumpers, chassis, and photoetch. My chassis was ruff, but Steve Milberry gave me a nice original from a builder he had...DOUBLE BONUS!!! Watch later in the year for some updates. -

Charlie, Thanks for the parts listing. What better way to promote your product by showcasing it in this manner. Pro-Tech is a new company to me, and I will be looking at your product in the future. -

Very nice, Charlie. Care to share with us what Pro-Tech parts have been utilized on the engine? -

1968 Dodge Coronet R/t
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Been working on the little details on the '68 Coronet R/T, like engine parts and detailing. The Hemi is nearly complete so I dropped it into the engine bay for a lookie see. Wiper motor and brake booster assembly is from a Revell '69 Charger R/T. Distributor is one of my scratchbuilt pieces. I'm pleased with how this one's coming together. Enjoy!!! -

Question About A Resin Casting Brand
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Don B's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Probably so, but not until after one starts to cast resin and experiences them first hand. But like resin products, there are ways to work with the bubbles. Tiny Bubbles...could make a neat song title, huh Gregg? -
From the left: Inca Gold, Firey Orange, Revving Red and Blazing Black. Just like the White Lightning test, One coat of Tamiya white primer, one wet coat of Testors, one wet coat of Tamiya TS-13 Clear. Revving Red has the least "bass boat" appearance of the foursome. Not sure if I didn't shake the can well enough. But the cap is painted with actual paint and looks the same as my spoon. I like this stuff and will be purchasing the remaining colors in the line real soon.

Question About A Resin Casting Brand
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Don B's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Especially for a beginner, I would look for a resin with a longer pot life. 2.5 minutes is not long to mix, pour and work with. The CR-600 I get from Micro-Mark has a 7 minute pot life. -
Question About A Resin Casting Brand
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Don B's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've been casting my own resin parts for three years now. Everyone else who does will give their two cents worth, but I started with Micro-Mark's resin products and continue to use them today. Buy their starter kit as it comes with everything you need...rubber, resin, mold release, mixing supplies, clay. Both the rubber and resin are 50:50 mix, which is much more forgiving and easier to blend for novices than the 10:1 others have. You need a scale to mix 10:1. -
Welcome to the forum and PLEASE tell us more about how you built the travel trailer. That is so cool!

1968 Dodge Coronet R/t
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Couple of minor updates on the Coronet. I at the point in the build where I'm painting and detailing lots of little parts. Here's the intake system for the Hemi. Came from the Coronet Pro Street kit. I stripped the air cleaners and painted with Testors Titanium metallizer and BMF. Detail Master braided lines and fittings. You've seen this from me before and you'll no doubt see it again until my eyesight goes. About 280 #78 holes drilled over the last two evenings. Why do I do this? -
I recall several guys wanting to see what this paint looked like, so I picked up a can at my LHS today. One coat of Tamiya white primer, one wet coat of White Lightning and one wet coat of Tamiya TS-13 clear in the course of one hour. Probably broke a rule or three just to show you this. Looks just like the cap on the can. Doesn't look too "bass boatish" either. It's a nice bright white and will look good on a model. Although I only sprayed a spoon, I was impressed with how it sprayed. I look forward to spraying a whole body with it. I also look forward to more spoon tests with the other "One Coat Lacquers" I have; Revving Red, Inca Gold, Blazing Black, and Firey Orange. Thanks, Testors!!!

Painting And The Aftermath
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to my80malibu's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Even though they are lacquers, the Duplicolor clears are too hot to be used over Testors and Tamiya lacquers. I recommend Tamiya clear and you can use it over the Testors lacquers. -
1968 Dodge Coronet R/t
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
No, I didn't. I could have done the rears with a silver Sharpie because they are separate parts. Wasn't sure how to do the fronts. BMF I guess. Mine are semi gloss and the door panel trim was tuff enough to BMF. -
Depends what day it is. State of Exhaustion, State of Confusion, State of Insanity...you get the picture.

1968 Dodge Coronet R/t
Marc @ MPC Motorsports replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's not quite done yet, but here's some progress pics of the '68 Coronet interior. Various shades of black, BMF on the door panels, photoetched window cranks with black styrene knobs (yes, I made them), Ken's Fuzzi Fur flocking. Used some extra Keith Marks "R/T" emblem decals to simulate embroidered logos on the seat backs. More to come... -
Not bad Andy. The BBS rims better suit the theme of the build. And you know what, that engine bay doesn't look too shabby either. What do the Recaro seats look like?
