  1. I have been a huge VW fan for many many years, I've personally owned 36 of them. This build is fantastic! I would build a real one just like it if the cost weren't so high. Anyway, great build is fits this bus perfectly.
  2. I love where you are going with this, its looking good.
  3. Have you fit the cab with the tires on it yet? How is the fit, on mine as I said the tires stick out way too far. Did you have the same issue? I hate that there are huge pin marks in the Exhaust stacks facing out for all the world to see. If I was to have use the stacks, I would cut off the pipe and replace with aluminum tubing. I did this on my Pete.
  4. I like the Key Lime or the Florescent Yellow. I was a volunteer at a FD back in the 80's that used the yellow/green color. All the other departments harassed us for it, now I see the other departments have moved to that color.
  5. Got some more done on the Stool Bus. Due to being a septic truck, I did not want the stacks, I wanted a standard muffler, this required a little work turning 2 stacks into 1 muffler. Fitting it behind the tank and the trans was a pain. Then I did some work on the poo tank and the frame. I added the sight glasses and the bar for the lights. Working on the valve at the rear. I also added some ribs for the seams on the tank.
  6. I am currently working on the SD version of this kit. Did the tanks and rear fenders come in white or Chrome in your kit? I see they are white, but did you strip them or they came this way? Mine are chrome in the SD kit. You are right about this kit, lots of mold lines, seams, pin marks. I am spending a ton of time sanding and filling. Due to the build I am doing, a Septic truck, I have not had to deal with the stacks, but I am going with a under frame muffler, the turbo to muffler tubing has taken me hours alone. I love what you are doing, this is a great kit and fun to build. I look forward to seeing yours come along, looks great so far.
  7. As has been said about this kit, the front axle is too wide, it makes the tires stick out way too far. So, I chopped about 1/4in out of the middle. It looks way better now. The tires are right even with the sides of the cab.
  8. He designed the grill and hood for me, I have the first prototype
  9. Had you seen these on E-Bay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Batto-Crosley-1-25-Resin-Body-Decal-Sheet-from-Fremont-Racing-Specialties/323207032257?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44040%26meid%3D93f87e4cadac4c42acd63b78e9fb3bbb%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D323068531863%26itm%3D323207032257&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850 Resin Crosley, might save some time scratch building. Looks decent.
  10. Thanks, these are great pictures, I am also doing a Green Leaker. The internet only gets you so far, this is great. BTW, I have had to do a tune up on one of these, what a pain. Adjusting the rack as seen is Fig 2 is not a lot of fun.
  11. I have been wanting to do one of these, this one looks fantastic. Great job! Its too bad this happy looking car represents such an un-happy era for so many people.
  12. I like what your doing, keep it up. Is this kit currently available? What is the kit #? I can see lots of possibilities from this.
  13. This is funny to me, putting a super charger on a 32hp Renault Dauphine. These were rated as one of the worst cars ever built, now lets throw a super charger on it and see how fast we can blow it up or kill ourselves from the poor handling. Good stuff.
  14. I have a few models I am working on that either have no brake booster/master cyl or the one that is there is molded in and is total garbage. Same thing with other underhood details. Does anyone make this kind of stuff in resin or plastic?
  15. I love that this also helps to make the pin marks go away. They always put them in the corners where I can't get in to sand them out, and if you do, you loose the carpet detail.
  16. I love this, great job. Builds like this speak to me much more than a 197X Muscle car with shiny paint and fancy rims. Very cool build. I have owned trucks that look just like this. My dad even had a primer red 1968 4 door with a green and white bed. Great old trucks.
  17. The parts were printed by Shapeways, unless your father is Bill Gates, you won't be buying one of these 3D printers. Check out their web page, the 3D printers they use are the Million Dollar variety. You can buy small ones from Home Depot and other places, but the quality is poor at best. Only good for stuff that is larger with little to no details.
  18. They are internal. The injectors sit inside the heads under the valve covers, the fuel line is inside the head, as well as the fuel rail that actuates them. Kind of like the Ford Power Stroke, you see no lines, they are internal to the head.
  19. I am sure I would like a set. In the real world, they look nice but suck off road, on a model, they would look great.
  20. I think that you are doing great. We all start somewhere and we get better the more we do. I look at some of the builds here and think, I can't do anything like that, but I have to remember that I do this for fun. As long as I enjoy it, learn from it, its all good. Some of the builds I see on here, the guy doing it probably have many many years of building, lots of cool tools, and spend ridicules hours on the builds. When it goes beyond the fun, and you start to compare your work to others and it does not live up to unreal expectations, the fun is gone. Just keep doing what you are doing, have fun. Thats what its about.
  21. I love the under truck lid structure, very nice. I need to do this to a hood I have.
  22. Right or wrong on the Hub caps, that thing is sweet.
  23. Thanks, that helps narrow down what a I want on my truck.
  24. So, what led me down this road was that I had asked to trade a grill from the 80 Ramcharger for a grill from a 70's Little Red Express or other Dodge. I found someone to trade, but he showed me how far off the size was between the 1/24 and 1/25. The 1/25 grill was way too small in the 1/24 truck I have. So, camero69 generously offered to design the 1/24 scale version. So, no, it would be too big for your truck. I a no expert with 3D software, but he may be able to scale it down for you, its up to him. I would love to do an "Emergency" truck. As for mine, I plan to do a very stock build, maybe a Forest Service truck or Border Patrol. I will remove the side trim and go with basic wheels.
