  1. So I've got an odd question. I'm interested in doing one of these as a Bell Telephone service truck from the late 1960's - specifically Mountain Bell. Can anyone recommend a good match for the slightly-greenish gray color for the lower half? I was going to use a generic gloss white on top.
  2. So I just received the FMR-154X (35" Swamper tires) and FMR-155 (with a 35" Swamper and FMR-174 spare) from Fireball Modelworks and I have to say they are some of the most beautiful pieces of resin I've ever seen. I don't know if my skills are sufficient to do them justice but I hope to try. The instructions are - with a few read-thrus - well detailed and complete. Can't say as they are easy but I see no difficulty in doing the steps in order. Anyway, the wait was 38 days - not nearly as bad as it might've been - and they've arrived just in time for coronavirus teleworking. With no desire to see Fireball overwhelmed with orders, I still encourage anyone wanting a real F-250 4x4 to get at least the FMR-154 set - you won't regret it.
  3. They are very modular; if you want a particular version they haven't sold (yet), you can always put together two kits. Smart marketing on their part plus everyone gets all the pieces they need for their own personal holy grail truck. I wonder if they might not at some point put out some engine-only kits - have a box with nothing in it but all the different V8 and I6 (and maybe even diesel) engines these trucks used, all the variant air cleaners and transmissions. Add some go-fast stuff like headers, maybe a supercharger or two, like the Revell Parts Pack motors. For myself, I'm looking forward to a real F250 4x4, other 4x4's, bigger tires and duels. And sooner or later a wrecker body and an ambulance.
  4. I finally picked up two extra 1970 4x4's and ordered a Fireball Super Swamper kit for one of them. I've heard only good things about them; alas that quality like that will take time because I want them now now now! Oh, well.
